Go BlackCat! This forum is coming together....Like I posted in another thread, us old-time, seasoned providers needed a new toy to boost morale.

I have to figure that out. I will try to move some of the other ones from the old forum. Any other emojis that are needed?

I love emoji, they are so important on message board. could I show you some very expressive ones or are you set to use the ugly ones?
hey no emoji allowed on comments?

DCB 3.5 spends all day stealing toys, copying what I say, pushing kids, pushing objects over, telling me no... I put him in time out repeatly, he doesn't care. Apperantly in all his fighting he got hurt. Dcm texted last night ds hurt dcb again... We have already talked about why dcb gets hurt, I keep them separated, I use time outs for both but your kid sits and pushes buttons not only with ds but with everyone. The other kids tell him to stop running into them with objects, stop throwing the sand or bark, give toys back when he takes them from younger kids. You know he does these things at home and at preschool, so it is not my environment or my supervision, it's dcb.

My only vent today is the squirrels keep hanging out on the newly updated playground, now, and with that comes a new sanitizing routine. They spend more time on the climbers, slides and in the playhouses than the daycare kids lately. They are not potty trained and think they can just go wherever they want. We have an abundance of young squirrels this year.

Squirrels are horrible! The little red ones are the worst around here. They chew up everything! The bigger gray ones steal my bird feeders.

OMGosh! I saw a fluffy red one on vacation once and it was the cutest thing ever. Mine are fat and brownish/grey. Not very fluffy at all. So far, nothing is chewed.

Ha, yes! We have a fat gray one that lives in our dead tree trunk out back. The kids call him the "crazy squirrel". He will literally run in circles for 15 minutes straight for what looks to be no reason at all, then make a bee line to steal a toy, wack it into the creek, then run back to the tree.

After a year of not working because of covid, I went back yesterday. As of this year, dhr is adding more policies to the minimum standards and even renaming the minimum standards, One policy that they've added is that you're not allowed to punish a child by taking away playtime outside because they need at least 90 minutes a day. Another policy they've added is that you have to have a handbook about policies and everything and it has to include what you do in the event that you decide to terminate a child because of behavior. Not only that but if you enroll a child, they want your email address. Why would they need your email address??? To me its just one big mess

CH, yes; on all of that here, too. While all is becoming digital to be 'easier', I also feel it's a way to add a good thing in order to bring about a 'bad' thing. The 'sandwich' persona.....good...bad....then good again...rinse and repeat. LOL

One of my clients joked that we could all become Scientologists and file for religious exemption, but they passed an act that even exempt programs "will receive monitoring visits at initial review and periodic sampling visits to ensure compliance with exemption criteria and data collection for health and safety standards". So there is no way to get around them, at all, legally

What a week! I have an upcoming infant spot available in August, two families are interested in it and would full it full time right when it's available if I offered it to them. A current family wants the spot for their infant who would begin in January. I explained to the current family they could have the spot at the full time rate beginning when the spot is available in August. They did not like that option and are throwing a fit about it, though they haven't given me an answer. Am I wrong for asking for full payment for the 5 months they wouldn't be using the spot? I'm so glad it's Friday 😒

No. If they are holding it, they must pay for it. Do not let them bully you. They need to be grateful for a confirmed slot waiting for them. Clearly, they are not aware how lucky they are. If they don't pay, then life needs to teach them the consequence for that. I have nine couples right now begging for what you are offering them. Stick to your guns. Your family comes first and should not go without pay for theirs. It is ridiculous, entitled and obnoxious for them to even ask.

Ugh. My allergies are terrible. I’ve taken my allergy meds and used my nasal spray but my eyes are itchy and I’ve nearly lost my voice. Since the weather has been great I’ve been taking my class outside because the kids need fresh air and exercise but it’s not good for my body. It’s going to be like that until all this pollen goes away.

No, you're not wrong. I understand parents may not want to pay to hold a spot they can't use for 5 months but it really isn't fair to expect you to lose income in order to hold it open for them. Just don't be too surprised if the current family gives notice once the new baby is born, if not before.

People who throw trash along the side of the roads. Why? Just why do they think it's okay? And it seems worse this year than ever before.

I remember a time when littering was much worse. People would literally though out bags of trash as they were driving.
