Welp - I am glad I didn’t listen to DH. I emailed the first family I mentioned above about their open invoice for this week. The family claims to be unaware of the invoice. We literally discussed it before they left
I had a DCP show up late, but I stuck to my policies and charged for it. DCP overpaid and said keep it.
I had a DCP ASK ME specific health questions about their child (that are red flags if not looked at soon) only to then tell me “I’m not too worried about it.” SO WHY ASK ME?!?
I had another kid show up in PJ’s - first offender, DCM just had a baby so dad dropped off. I chose my battles with this one and changed the kid then discussed it at pick up with DCD.
School age daycare boy come in with all of his winter gear and his backpack. When it was time to go to the bus he up didn't not to put any of his stuff on. So for the next 10 to 15 minutes I had to listen to him whining that he's cold. 2 minutes before bus I had asked him to get his mask out, the bus arrived and he was still refusing. He's required to wear a mask on the bus, it's not my rule.
What a fun way to start your morning,,,,not! The last time I agreed to take a school aged kid who needed to catch his bus at my house, I almost instantly regretted it. By the time winter hit, I was kicking myself and saying, "Never again!" That was way before Covid hit. I give you tons of credit for dealing with it. Hopefully your day has improved now that he took his attitude to school with him. :-)
The kid is not that bad as far as kids go (I have had worse SA kids) but I am so over him, his sister will be five and starting K in the fall, then I will be done. My dd will be devasted when they leave though so I got to find a way to prepare her without her telling them that they will be leaving.
Don't you just LOVE when dcg4 tells you dcm is wearing a mask because she's SICK?!
Ugh! I am so over all of this! There is no clear direction/guidance and it seems no one really knows what they should or shouldn't be doing.
I mean yes, there is the obvious stay home/quarantine if you have symptoms etc but truth be told, any one of us feeling fine/asymptomatic could be spreading this all over the place without knowing it. I am definitely starting to lean towards it being time to let this whole thing ride. I mean our immune systems are screwed and any immunity to anything that we have left is virtually worthless (I've had DCP's that have had HFM recently..ADULTS! lol!) so I think it's time our bodies are allowed to start building back immunity. Heck with this crazy useless and nonsense in regard to Build Back Better and lets' start building immune systems again!
I'm tired of the news saying cases are rising and it's going to be a horrible wave when it peaks just to say the next day that this new variant is more spreadable but less dangerous so it's all good. Im tired of hearing the unvaccinated people are selfish and are the problem when SCIENTIFICALLY this is not true at all.
I'm tired of big Hollywood stars continuing to chastise and ridicule those that think, behave or act differently than they do....NEW FLASH, we DO think, act and behave differently because my bank balance doesn't have 6+ zeros and my house only has 3 bedrooms verses 13.
Annalee In your situation, I would definitely ask DCM about her being sick though just so you know to watch out for symptoms or to test if necessary.
Im not sure what that changes for you as far as quarantine and closure but hopefully, your state is just allowing you all to make your own decisions in regards to this. Seems if you leave the house, you are exposed so how is anyone suppose to know what to do?

It is 5 quarantine days and 5 with mask here, but providers are allowed to do as they see fit for each situation. Being vaccinated makes the difference for me because I technically am open even if EVERYONE is quarantining. Make sense? I now have 6 kids since Thanksgiving that have had covid so there is a 90 day 'grace period' for those kids barring symptoms arising. But basically, best practice is whatever you do with what information you have. I am confident that many clients have been less than honest but I can only control what I can control. and yes I am waiting for pickup to ask dcm about her sickness as I want to see her face
Dcg is driving me nuts, one day she is screaming in hunger at the bus stop (an hour early) that I have to feed her the moment we return, the next day she refuses the bottle and Wants to nap instead, Today she refused the bottle after two oz, cried when I laid her down, pooped within 20 minutes so I had to change and she refused to go down again.
I LOVE sleep, so I get it! I had this happen a few times in Dec, then DCM "remembered" that I agreed to open early just for their family, so I now get a text at 10pm to tell me they'll be late the next day. I still get paid, so I shouldn't complain, but where's the common courtesy?!
gumdrops yes! It’s simply common courtesy. They ended up coming at 9 AM.
I have one family I open for at 6:30 one day a week. The first time they are more than 15 mins late/don’t come come without letting me know in advance will be the last time I open an hour early. I was very clear about this when they started with me.
-23F this morning. Normally, I don't mind winter no matter how cold but Im kinda over this winter.... every other day it's either arctic and well below zero or it's snowing (alot). Just pick one please.
I have a school-age boy that has a soy and peanut butter allergy. I do whatever I can to make sure he doesn't get soy or peanut butter in my home. When I print out the school menu for my daughter I click the button to exclude soy items and it takes out half of the menu.
Well because of the pandemic everybody gets a free lunch, so the boy takes lunch everyday even though 50% of the school food contains soy. At the school they have a hot lunch and a cold lunch available pick from.
So the school age boy notices the menu that I printed out and he asks which week is it for. I say this week and he says oh great today is food that I can't have. The pizza has soy in it and cold lunch is a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. I messaged dad right away and let him know what school age boy told me.
Dad messages back that he thought that the pizza was on Friday. I said not according to the school newsletter. I assumed he would have somebody take a cold lunch to the school for his son. So that his son would have something to eat.
I rolled my eyes and told school-age boy to let his teacher know. Not sure if he let the teacher know but after school I asked him "so what did you have for lunch?" He said I took the cold lunch and just put the PB&J on the share table and ate the rest.
They're good parents he's happy and healthy and that physically damaged. But hand holding them on reading newsletters for the past 3 years is getting annoying. I have to remind them when the school is closed so that they pay the higher rate
I worked for a center that was close to our new home, in our new town. I left the place last September after figuring out that it was the most shotty place I have ever worked. Now, they are a new business and have things to learn (that's why I gave them half a chance. I come from a center and a home based setting). However, you would think that after 44 (yes, 44!) violations in the last year, including "Children were subjected to prohibited disciplinary actions." Not once.. but twice at two different visits from the county. The most recent visit was because an infant had crawled out the dang room and another parent found the infant hanging out in the entry way. I'm so angry that this is the standard that is being taught in our area. If it was me, I'd get shut down in a heart beat. I'm so angry. So angry. I am so sad and scared for those kids in that center.

Will the department of human resources not suspend or terminate their license & not allow them to operate another childcare center?????
