Me: That sounds amazing. When can I start?
Opportunity: When you put out.
Me: Still self-employed.
One day I will probably own a flamethrower, y'all. Please, send books and snacks.

Poor kid! What are his parents thinking? It's 91 with a dew point of 63 here - feel like temp is 101. I can't imagine being dressed the way that child is today. Although I have to say...my dd is probably wearing a sweatshirt over her work uniform despite today's temps. She's always cold! Hopefully your dcb is more like my dd! ;-)

It doesn't matter how many reminders I give, someone always "forgets" about a closure...then they almost always make a comment that theyll "figure it out" or they don't know what they're gonna do. It's always so awkward!

Did they come to your house and try to drop off so you had to actually talk to them?
You could try sending a group text the night before a closure and remind everyone of the day off or you could simply post a sign on your daycare entry door that reads "CLOSED TODAY Back on xx. day" so that IF a parent did come to your door, they can read the notice and not have to engage in awkward conversation with you.

I had at least 2 parents show up when I was closed 2 weeks ago. I was gone, so one messaged me saying she forgot and the other one didn't have a clue I was closed - even after several reminders. I guess I know who reads my messages haha!
And yesterday, a dcp told me they might be here today, might not. Ummm, no because daycare is closed. They also forgot I'm closed one day next week and said she forgot to ask for the day off. "Guess I should pay closer attention to the newsletters" she said. Good idea 👍

It has been a true MONDAY and I am only half way through my day.
yesterday DCM texts and asks if she can bring DCB4mo at 8:30 instead of 10 due to a meeting and she will pick up at 2:30 instead of 5:30 for his dr appt. I’m like yes of course! That means it won’t be a big interruption to my morning since everyone else comes at 8-8:30 and he’s the last to be picked up so I’ll be off an hour and a half early!
No. He has been screaming non stop this morning and will not let me put him down. He did not want to eat (which is weird because he will always eat) and he kept drawing his legs up. I did everything I could think of to try to help his belly but nothing was working. Finally at lunch time I texted DCM. She is now coming to get him ASAP. She said she ate some food last night that really upset her stomach and since he is BF she thinks he might be dealing with it too. He is usually a very laid back baby. Hardly cries and just enjoys watching the older kids play. He honestly had me terrified that something happened before drop off and I would get blamed, it was THAT out of character for him.
Then 2 of my 3 DCG did not want to come today and threw fits at drop off (one is new so understandable and the other just came back from a vacation so she was with mom and dad for 7 days straight). I had rotated some new toys in over the weekend so thankfully the excitement of new toys calmed them down.
my DS10mo has been getting 4 teeth in at once so he wants to be held non stop and he won’t eat and won’t sleep.
Thank goodness it’s nap time. I got all 3 girls down and DCB4mo is napping too. Im exhausted.

Is it just me or is anyone else ready for their school age students to return to school? Today's been a little rough our administrator had to cook because our director that usually cooks was off today. We've got a girl whose in college but is working here during the summer as the schoolage teacher and she's let them run wild and they won't listen to us or her, disrespectful etc. Maybe tomorrow will be betterChristy Sewell

I don’t know what it is about this week but I am more than ready for DCK4.99 to age out. I just have two more weeks.
DCK: *refused to eat breakfast this morning* Ms. GirlMomma, I’m hungry! Can I have a snack?
Me: No, lunch is in 45 minutes. Make sure you eat breakfast tomorrow morning so you stay full until lunch.
10 mins later…
DCK: Ms. GirlMomma, I’m cold!
Me: Do a few jumping jacks to get your blood pumping. *Checks thermostat to see it’s set two degrees higher than normal and DCK never complains* 🤦♀️
It’s storming today so we are stuck inside.

GirlMomma, you sound just like me. lol I've said those exact things to my own dc kids - be sure to eat breakfast and you won't be hungry and if you're cold, do some jumping jacks. There's no way I'm turning off the air conditioner or turning it down when it's 99 degrees in the shade with 70% humidity! lolLast edited by e.j.; 07-31-2022, 03:04 PM.

This group of kids i have, are always poopy. They all poop multiple times a day. What is going on with their stomachs. Ive never had a group like this. Even my own kids, after infancy, it was once a day. My house smells all the time.

I feel like it's diet. I have a group of kiddos right now that are all regular poopers with firm consistent poo. Then I have that one child that I know eats nothing but processed junk food and way too much candy and the poop is horrid. It's runny most times and happens multiple times a day and the smell....Ahgg!!

Sounds like the 2 brothers who just left my care. Both had more of an unintentional vegetarian diet - and they ate tons of fruits and veggies. I was constantly changing both of their mushy, huge diaper blowouts. Loved the kids; don't miss the behavioral issues or their dirty diapers! lol

I think it’s so cute when you post that you have a rare infant opening and have a bunch of interviews and someone messaged you asking for info and then they say “we will definitely consider you”. Aha no maam, ill consider YOU. That is, if you schedule an interview with me and dont take forever “discussing it with your husband”. Childcare openings are scarce here and i already have 4 interviews for this spot. A couple families admittedly saying they have been looking forever. This spot will go fast.

Earlier this year a new family when on vacation. They took the whole family and the child didn't attend for the week.
Then it hit me that family that I had for over 3 years has never taken time off. Now I have taken a week off but the kids, one being school age, always talks about having to spend a week at Grandma's while I was closed. I do believe that Dad who does most of the pickups and drop offs, takes time off because he has a side business he works on at home. He'll comment at pickup that he was done working or was at home and decided to pick up early. (He picks up, up to an hour early)
The School age kid tells me that he will be going to day camp again, even tells me the camp name and when he's going. However neither mom or dad has told me that he will be gone, this week. They didn't tell me last year either.

I have too many girls too close in age! DCG19mo, DCG21mo, and DCG33mo. They are just moving as one group and trying to take everything from each other all day. Every time one of them has a toy they all have to have it. Even though I have multiples of everything. I have at least 5 of everything! But they are hoarding all of it and I have to keep separating them. Usually DCG21mo doesn’t care what the other two are doing but today they are driving me crazy 🤦♀️

I have one that comes in with a sippy cup of milk and two animal crackers every morning. Not as messy but still annoying lol she is also not even 2 so she drops the cup almost every morning and it spills just enough to be irritating. I have started immediately taking it and putting it in the fridge and getting out her water cup. She also has to either forfeit the crackers or sit down away from everyone to eat because it’s a choking hazard. 🤦♀️

I'm sorry but if you contact me 4 different ways (contact submission form from my website, Facebook comment, Facebook private message, and then text message 45 mins later.) in a span of 51 minutes starting after 7pm, you need to first take a Xanax and then find someone else because that's just annoying and rude. I have a life. I have a family. It is after my working hours. I do not sit around eagerly awaiting you to reach out to me inquiring about care. It is my daughter birthday and we are trying to enjoy family time but instead my phone has been going off from this woman. She said her current provider is changing her hours and I’m wondering, is she really or is she just trying to get rid of you without terming? 🤣
