  • My phone updated and all my saved to home screen for easy access icons are all gone.

Dcg came in crying, she does want to come because she woke early and was having fun at home. My ds tried to talk to her and she keeps turning away.

Infant came late, dcm texted but I didn't notice the text until later. She hasn't been her since last week (6 days ago) when I sent her home at the end of the day for not feeling well. She tempted fine today but still wanted me to hold her. Hopefully she is better after nap. She be one at the end of week.

I had a family contact me and we set up a time to talk virtually. Missed the meeting, after the meeting time she emailed asking how she would log in. When I explained that she missed the meeting time. She apologized and asked to reschedule. I did not care so I offered her the same time. She emails back saying she found a friend that will take them but she will keep my contact info. That's great but I not waiting around for you and I don't think I will be available.

Family that I meet with virtually two weeks ago and then had them over for a tour last Thursday She says during the tour that she has to discuss with her husband, then talks about start date and then as she was walking out door asks how I do the paperwork. Now I am not sure if she is expecting me to send paperwork or she's going to talk to her husband.
    Good Bye

      • Does anyone else have that dcm that complains about how much she works or how hard it is to get things done or how hard it is to deal with her kids at home? I have a few dcm like this, and they all work 2-3 days a week and have 1-2 kids

I understand it's different for everyone...but I am the wrong person to complain to about stuff like this. I wish I had these peoples schedules!

Just say what you said above....

"You are the wrong person to complain to about stuff like this."

Or you could start complaining about mom's that work outside the home. How it's gotta be so easy to get up and go to work verses being at home. "Vent" about how dreamy it would be to drop your kids off some where all day so you can go work with other adults and not worry about who pooped or who wiped a booger on the wall next to the outlet. Make sure to mention that lunch hour at a job outside home would be absolutely heavenly as eating lunch in peace is something you can only fantasize about. etc etc...

I'd have a hard time doing that with a straight face but I'd probably try ... haha!

Most every mother I know that doesn’t run a daycare does this. Like any of my mom friends, my peers, acquaintances. Even before I ran daycare, I had to do everything with my daughter. I worked but on weekends I cleans with her, grocery shopped. I’ve never liked this complaining. And I always got the “how do you do it!!” I don’t have a choice you idiot, that’s how.

      • Isn't it amazing how doctors/or how the parents perceive doctors is soooo different. I have four with RSV. Three families tell me this is spread through mucous so it is safer to keep your children home for 3-5 days and do not return to daycare till next Monday...but there's always that ONE that HER doctor said she would have mucous for a long while so she can come back in 24 hours....??? Uhm, NOPE, NOPE she can't per MY rules....😐 I am ALMOST MAD🤣😁

There’s always one parent like that in every group.

Ironically, 4/5 of my families see the same pediatrician - but there’s always one parent in that group of 4 that will have a different treatment plan than the others 😂

When I have a daycare child diagnosed with something contagious I always send the info sheet provide by my state health department.
For RSV I would send this https://www.hennepin.us/-/media/henn...rsv-parent.pdf

          AND a note that says:

PLEASE NOTE: Often times doctors or nurse practitioners will give parents a note stating a child is cleared to be re-admitted into care after an illness. While their medical expertise is appreciated, ultimately it is up to the provider whether or not a child is well enough to return to care as the child's health is only one aspect of what is required to participate with regularly scheduled daily activities.

It's also imperative that parents remember that when a child does not feel well, those feelings are amplified when thrust into an environment that is loud, noisy and active. It also places additional responsibilities onto the provider which in turn can take away from the care and supervision the other children require.

BC, I don't have that particular wording but I do have where I get to make the final decision....had a bad thing with rotovirus years ago that fixed that!!!!!

      • Did a phone interview for temp care. They wanted to see the daycare when they drop off. I said thats fine and to come a little earlier than 7 to take a quick look around before the other kids arrive. They wanted to come at 6:30 , i dont open til 7. It will not take 30 mins to look around. I told them to come at 6:50, that it will take maybe 2 mins to see all the daycare since its just one big room and a sleeping room.
i would normally charge for an early drop off. When i said come before everyone else arrives i meant lile 2 mins early to come in and look lol. What do you need to do for 30 mins?? Its temp care for 4 weeks so we dont need to really talk about anything outside of what we already talked about on the phone.

        • I've had so many frustrations this week!

Bottom line, it seems that parents these days just want to pawn off their kids to everyone else. Like as soon as they get the chance, they get rid of them.

I swear, if I was open on Christmas, I'd have a few kids here.

          • This is going to be two vents - Sometimes i just want to be angry and vent and DH doesn’t understand. He says I’m being picky or not understanding yet I’m the one having to work more and work harder!

I have a family that picks up at 4:30. Prior to COVID they’d have until 5:30, but since I’ve switched to contracted hours and dcm gets off at 3:15. Works from home (10 min away). They asked about extending to 5pm and I said I have to get back to them by this Friday: I have 4 until 5pm which I can do and stay in ratio without my assistant. The 4 can pick up at 4:30 if I need to close early for some reason. I’d have to add my assistant the extra 30 min to stay in ratio. Not only that, it throws off the dynamic of the afternoon so I wouldn’t be able to do the picking up and prep for the next day during that 30 min. So it adds more to my workday AND I’d be paying an extra almost 3 hours to My assistant (to put that into perspective it’ll be another $50/week). They’re on subsidy, they won’t want/can’t to pay…. And even if they wanted to, it’ll add another 30 min to my evenings!

so today I pull my front door camera and see a car in front at 4:28. But no one here to pick up: I text at 4:35. Dcm texts at 4:37 that she’s here and takes until 4:39 to come to the door: the car in front at 4:28? Yep, was hers!!

DH says I’m overreacting, but I lost those 10 min. If I don’t say anything, they’ll keep doing it and I’ll have to keep My assistant longer for just in case!

i can’t even think straight. What gets me is that she didn’t even apologize. I get that things happen and maybe she had an urgent call … but they always text if running late. And a simple I’m so sorry, it won’t happen again: but to slowly walk to pick up when you’re late, how freaking more disrespectful can you be

No way I wouldn’t say yes to this or be okay with what they did. You’d have to pay your assistant more to have their kid stay longer, forget that. And taking their time to come to the door, seems like they are testing the waters. I’d tell them you run a business and hire help. You can’t change schedules or allow them to sit in your driveway and walk in late.

DH says the same. If she’s off at 3:15, 10 mins away, I wouldn’t allow DCM any extended hours. The child is already there 65 mins more than needed - IMO.

It’s VERY rude of her to be late!

          • DCG 3.5 was standing in the middle of the play area this morning and made a strange sound like she had farted. She had real bad diarrhea a couple weeks ago and was sent home, and so I'm thinking here we go again! She had this weird look and started peeing all over the floor! I had mixed feelings of being relieved that it wasn't diarrhea, but a little annoyed that she is peeing on the floor and I'm in the middle of feeding a baby and now trying to keep the littles away from the mess! She's been potty trained since last winter and always tells me when she needs to go. Not sure what the deal was this morning!

                Ouuuuuch!!!

I tore a muscle (and possibly fractured my rib bone) over my rib cage in a car accident in the early 90s and it still hurts to this day. My doctor, at that time, did not believe me and it was not taken care of properly.
Make sure you get it taken care of properly.

            • My informed delivery email from USPS yesterday said that I had a letter from the state. I have been waiting for my new daycare license.
Well it was not in my mailbox yesterday when dh got the mail. I have checked with 3 neighbors (that get my mail sometimes) and 2 have gotten back to me, but neither of them has it. The third one is going to check when she gets home.

Meanwhile, Todays informed delivery does not show that I am getting it today.

              Sorry, it is lost.

Most likely it's at the neighbor's house come on that's where most of my mailing packages end up when they're not at my house. It just happens to me my brother's house so I'll get it from him if they have it.

Just likes me that it's my license since it's late arriving after I fought the citation. I don't feel comfortable replying I have it in my hands.

I'm also waiting on a letter stating that I can have an additional preschooler. According to my local providers I should have gotten that letter of two weeks after I applied and that was August 2nd.

            • Alwaysgreener I love getting "informed delivery" emails, It especially helps if I'm away out of town.

So I called USPS and they say that it can take 7 days for the items to arrive. That this letter could have gotten on the wrong truck and I may not see it until next week.

            • DCG gets out of preschool at 12. I agreed to let a relative drop her off to me/daycare after her preschool every Tuesday. They know lunch is over at daycare by 12 so she would have to come fed. I assumed this ment a quick sandwich on the car ride over and she would be here by 12:30. Nah….the aunt takes her to her house, feeds her and plays with her until shes ready to get rid of her, around 1:30. I find it really annoying, i already mentioned kids lay down for nap at 12 so when i thought she would be here around 12:30 it would be ok because most arent quite asleep yet. But 1:30 is halfway through nap.
i also think its weird that she carries her to my door insted of just putting her shoes on. Why arent her shoes on?? Let her walk to the door. And whats with parents/whoever waiting to say goodbye to their child until i open the door? Now have to wait for you to be done hugging and kissing your kid a million times. Do it at the car, walking up to the door, or before i open it.
