Oops! This was meant to be a comment to Annalee's post above.

  • Oh, the hypocrisy.

Dcm upset that another dck was here while a family member was home sick. The next week, she sends her child with a cough and says "sorry, she can only stay home for so long."

With RSV - I would require a test

  • I just called a parent for pick up as their child puked all over. As I am cleaning up puke, same child has a diarrhea a blow-out.

When the parent arrives (takes 45 minutes because they were home sleeping because they themselves are sick ) the parent says "Hmmm I wonder what's up. DCK never pukes at home."

I am pretty sure my mouth was just hanging there... I am sure I drooled a little too but I seriously can't make this stuff up.

Cat Herder I’m laughing because I just typed the same way in another post and I always read those words with the Patrick (from SpongeBob) voice in my head 😂

I just told a parent their child was coughing… they responded “He wasn’t at home?” 🤦‍♀️ I just wanted to say, Okay.. and?? 😂

  • Two vents today.

    1. I bought a 12 pack of micro-ban spray - all squirt a wimpy, steady, stream about 4 inches out. A water gun would have been more useful.
    2. I have a glue dot stuck in my hair, halfway down my pony tail. Put there by the most adorable 2 year old boy in my world, but still....

    It isn't even 10 am.

Hang in there, CH! It is Friday for us!

  • A teacher got pissed today because I forgot to let them know that they wasn't suppose to go to the library this week because the librarian wasn't going to be there and got really hateful with me and told me that whenever I get asked to do something that they have to repeatedly tell me and that if my memory is that bad then I need to stay home, and this same person likes to run their mouth if you tell them anything and goes and tells someone else!!! She came from another daycare and she must think we do exactly the same as they did over there but we don't plus she thinks that she owns the place when in actually she's an Employee!!!

    • Dcm messages me and says they are on their way to get dck. It's during nap time, so I appreciate the heads up. It's less than a 5 minute drive, so I hurry and wake him up, tell him to get his stuff on, etc.

They show up 25 minutes later I hate nap time pick-ups!

It's so interesting to me that no matter where we're all located, no matter that we all have different dc parents and kids, we all seem to have the very same problems that come up time after time after time.

I tell parents to text me when they're on their way to my house with an eta and then to text me again once they're in my driveway. It usually only takes me a minute or two to quickly change a kid's diapers, get his shoes on and bring him out to the breezeway to meet the parent.

        Every time.

I started telling them to wait in the driveway and I'd walk them out to keep from waking the others. I then wake them when they pull up.

It's a little harder with infants, but now I just walk out with a spare diaper in my hand for them to change since naptime pick-up is for doctor's appointments or family emergency, only. They should already have changing supplies in their car diaper bag for that.

This happened to me once, too.

Now like CH, they text me when they’re in the driveway, I wake the child and walk them out. I do not change their diaper or require them to go potty. Depending on the child/time of pick-up, I may require them to pick up before nap time.

    • I am completely done with this week

    • DCG is potty training at home, she was doing well here. But now she will go through the motions during potty breaks but then wets herself shortly after. She then tells me that she has wet her pull-up and in a whiny voice starts "demanding" me to change her right then, no matter what I am doing.

I do handle the whiny tone but right or wrong, she can change herself now.

I don't have a changing pad in my bathroom. They take them off the exact same way they would if they went in their underwear. They grab a bathmat towel from the top drawer, sit if they need to, remove clothing, toss pull-up in trash can, drop their clothing in the laundry hamper (if it went through clothing) along with the bathmat towel. Then they re-dress.

If it went through their clothing or soiled their skin, they then step into the tub, and I run a quick bubble bath with baby wash. Just enough to cover their legs, hand them a washcloth and dixie cup to pour over chest/bath. Self-help. While they are drying off (after tub is drained), I grab their clean clothes for them to dress themselves. I do laundry of nap linens every day following nap and just toss them in with that. If it is a BM blowout, their clothing is washed alone with odoban laundry disinfectant. It should be noted, I only keep 6 and rarely have more than one potty trainer at a time. If it is a BM in cloth, I cut those off and toss them. Bottom layer, cloth or pull-up, goes in the garbage if BM.

Nah, I'm just an empty nester and nobody else uses that bathroom.

    • DCM is driving me crazy, texting again about closures for the holidays. We just went through this a month ago, through group text with DCD. He even said they still had the calendar of closures I gave them! She was a teacher and now vice principal. She doesn't have any problems remembering her school's closures! I watched her oldest and still have her youngest, who will be gone come summer. I'll miss her daughter, but not the mom. She's the type who cannot stand to spend time with her kids. If DC was open on a snow day, she would risk her kids lives driving snowy/icy roads bringing them here so she could have her day off alone. She just wants to see if DC will be open for her days off and if I changed my mind on them, which we won't be open!

I would just say, "DCD said you guys still have the calendar so you'll have to check as I do not have time right now as it's kinda busy here right now" IF she texts during a slower or quieter time, just say "DCD says you guys have the calendar" Rinse and repeat. If you reply with the answer she will always expect you to give her answers. I hate when parents ask me things they already have the ability to answer themselves.

Good advice! I'll do that next time...and I'm sure she will ask next month again. This time I just copy and pasted the reply I gave her a month ago.

    • DCM, please focus on your children and stop looking at other children and asking us invasive questions to get information that is none of her business!!! This mom kills me, hands off of her own kids but totally zeros in on other kids.

      • DS4 glasses come with 3 replacement pairs a year. His lens were really scratched up so I called for a new pair. I drove 30 minutes to pick it up last Friday the 4th. Well, today, while DH was subbing, something happen and his glasses busted. right up where they would normally be a screw in normal glasses. (he has the plastic wrap-around kind.) There is not enough to try and tape them together.

I called to see if they by any chance still had his old pair so we could swap out the frames, and she said that they have to send them back to the manufacturer. ugh.

He does have his last year frames at least.

        • Very small group today due to illness - only 2 kids. I would be done right now since one got picked up early....but nope. I'll have the other one until after 5 even though mom gets off at 2 Dad even dropped off this morning in his pajamas. There's always that one kid that ruins it lol

Just as sure as the first one dropped off is the last one to picked up and the "I will pick up early today" parent will find something else they want to do more and pick up later... that is how daycare goes. Haha..

        • Dcg1 arrived cranky, she was doing better at breakfast, so I decided to make a quick return call. As soon as the other person picked up, she stopped eating and started crying. The call ended shortly after and so did her crying.

        • On Thursday last week (my Friday), dcm says "xxx won't be here for a little while, probably a few days maybe a couple weeks as we are down to one car". Guess who was the second arrival this morning....dcb, of course....why does this stuff even come out their mouth?
