  • Dcm texts 1 1/2 hour prior to pick up that she has a flat tire and hopefully can be here on time..: I text back please make other arrangements because I need to pick up my dd from Art class and need to be in the car driving by 5:05pm (closing at 5pm). Dcm gets annoyed but asks grandpa to pick up. Tell me why grandpa just called and said ‘we’ll if im a few minutes late you’ll just have to wait and deal with it’…followed by ‘I don’t know why it’s a big deal to be late’ wtf. I nicely said of course I’ll wait, but that’ll make ME late to pick up my DD and that Is why i told Dcm an hour ago to make arrangements:,

and there goes a star on the calendar for that family; there’s been lots of litte things irking me because they’re so disrespectful, but this one just cements it.

i called in a favor with my neighbor who will now pick up my DD, but im still pissed at the you’ll have to deal
    with it

I hate that. I would have said "Actually, I don't. I am able to call DFACS for pickup and let you just deal with it." - But I am probably closer to Grandpa's age and willing to go toe to toe with him for entertainment. I don't get out much.

I would have had her cubby stuff in a bag and her term letter stapled to it.

Wow! I love CH's reply! lol I'd be most likely to either term like Littlefriends said or at the very least, give a warning that if I ever got a response like the one today, to count on it being their last day.

  • Holiday crafts.

    That nobody will acknowledge.

Ugh.... I don't wanna.... But I created the expectation and now have to suck. it. up.

My boss sucks. I am my boss. That is all.

I hate holiday crafts too. I found a brilliant solution this year however.... My DD and her family (my grandbaby) have moved to town. My DD LOVES crafting. I have "hired" her to come to daycare M,W,F mornings and do crafts with the kiddos while I snuggle grandbaby. She gets to do crafts and gets a break from baby (almost 8 months) and I get snuggle time so WIN-WIN for everyone!!

Jealous. I asked my daughter if she wanted to do some crafts she texted, "sure", then a few seconds passed and she sent, "you mean the daycare kids don't you? Hard pass." She included the laughing emoji to soften the blow, but I always knew she was smarter than me.

I have a grandpa that always snarks something and when I was going to be off Nov 11, he asked why and I said 'probably to do absolutely NOTHING'. He looked up over his glasses and sniggered cause he knew I was snarking it right back... He has been nicer since that time. LOL

grandpa showed up at 4:58 without a mask (we still have masks at pick up he knew this) and without an ID (required since I don’t know him). So I called mom and had her verify by calling him. But as grandpa leaves he says on the phone to dcm ‘its not a big deal, I wasn’t THAT late ‘

It’s not even worth the argument. They had one foot out the door in my mind because of other issues. This just reinforced that they’re not a good match.

So the poop kids comes back today; guess who got picked up early! That's about 4-5 days of watery poop; I told them they need to be seen by a doctor now??

    • SA DCG 5 comes in Tuesday without a coat.

It snows all day long and all the younger kids have proper winter gear, so we go outside.

After school, dcg ask to go outside and suddenly she has a coat. The school had loaned her one and she did not return it.

I send the coat home with dcd, he makes a comment that he did not realize that dcg did not have a coat.

He brought the coat back today, he says she forgot to return it.

Since I do not want it left here, I stuffed it in her backpack. If she brings it back, it will go home with her again.

      • I told everyone that every child needs winter coat, snowpants, boots , hats gloves at daycare every day and if they want, these items can stay here so its easier to not forget these items and not have to lug them around. Well none of the parents wanted the items to stay. Its much easier if it stays so i dont have a million things to gather for each child at the end of the day.
But on monday a daycare child had pooped up their back so i put the bag of dirty clothes in the tote they use to bring snow stuff back and forth. Its Thursday and that dirty bag of clothes is still in there. Why do you want the snow stuff to go back home everyday if your not even using it at home? This clearly shows me you havent used it at home otherwise you would have taken the nasty clothes out and washed them by now!
i understand wanting the stuff for the weekend, but i doubt anyone is taking their kids outside when they get home from work.

I had a dcm that would take their coats because she wanted them in the car Incase they got stuck, kinda an emergency plan. I keep spare boots in my car in case I were to get stuck and had to walk.

Short weeks always feel twice as long as regular weeks. Enjoy the quiet! lol

      • It seems my toddlers were all very eager to get here this morning, so they could poop.

Miralax Monday! I swear it's a thing! Parents don't want to deal with the poop over the weekend so they dose their constipated kids up late Sunday night/early Monday morning and voila...! All six kids poop at least 3 times before lunch. Coincidence? I don't think so! lol

          • DCM comes in yesterday with one kid - said the other is sick. Comes later to pick up and says, “DCK will be here tomorrow! No fever since this AM” Umm no. That kid can’t return until Wednesday.

Another parent decided to pay late yesterday, they typically pay when they receive their invoice on Sunday.

One DCM *casually* mentioned the SA sibling is out of school tomorrow. I usually have the kid during break. Has she directly come out and asked? No. Will I be taking the kid tomorrow at the last minute? Also no.

Finally, one parent “forgot” payment… until I said I’d invoice the late fee.

            It’s almost over

              • We'll I thought my family had dodged the bullet on catching an illness before Thanksgiving. I was worried about daycare, but it ended up being my son catching Covid from school! He started coughing and running a fever, and so I tested him and sure enough it was positive. Today was first day daycare was closed for the holiday, so I could prepare for hosting Thanksgiving tomorrow. Had to call everyone and cancel. I'm so tired of all the illnesses, we just can't catch a break this season. Daycare is closed last two weeks of December and my kids are off from school too... I'm so hoping we can all be well then at least.

Thank you e.j.! He's still running a fever but in good spirits. So far the rest of us haven't caught it, and just planning on a small Thanksgiving with just the kids and DH. Hope you have a good Thanksgiving! 🙂

Thank you! I'm super paranoid around special events, like holidays, birthdays, and vacations...too many ruined by illnesses unfortunately. We caught a stomach bug three years ago from a daycare child around Thanksgiving... stomach bugs are the worst!
