  • Dck poops on the way to daycare. Mom gives me a diaper and tells me he needs changed.

I'll do the same thing to her when he poops right before pick-up

I don't mind if I have to change every once in awhile at arrival but if they hand me a diaper I would be irritated and hand it back.

If I don’t notice it before DCP arrives (my smell has been messed up since I had COVID) then I do hand them the diaper and wipes to change them. 😂

It’s the handing of the diaper and saying he needs to be changed that rubs me wrong. Like you’re “the help”.

A mom came in apologizing awhile back, saying her child had pooped on the way. Honestly, I’d rather just have the parent go on, and I change the child, but it’s all in the delivery, IMO.

  • Today isn’t a holiday I celebrate with the DCK like I do Valentine’s Day. Sure, I’m wearing green and I may or may not make green Rice Krispie Treats later. But that’s the extent of it for me.

DCM brought DCK in today. Her face is painted with glittery four leaf clovers. Why? 🙄

That doesn't seem all that unusual to me. Maybe it's because my mother's side of the family is Irish, I attended church and school in an Irish Catholic parish and live in an area with a relatively high Irish population where towns hold big parades to celebrate the day ...? lol

We did St. Patrick's Day crafts all week, read St Patrick's Day themed books, played Irish music (thank goodness the kids don't really listen to or understand the lyrics!), watched videos of Irish dancers and tried to copy them, ate green foods during our meals and snacks and we all wore green yesterday since I'm closed today. I didn't even request that the kids come in green; they all just did since it was the last day we'd be together before the "holiday". We don't really make a huge deal of any holiday, but we do a little here and there to recognize them. I wouldn't have even blinked an eye if one of the kids showed up with painted shamrocks on their face! It's all part of the fun here on St. Patrick's Day. lol

e.j. It sounds like you had a lot of fun yesterday!

I have heard of parades to celebrate today, but it’s only happening at our state’s capital. Around here, people use it as a drinking holiday, which is why I’ve never gone all out for it. Celebrating the true history of it seems like fun!!!

We talked about St Patrick himself and did a couple crafts plus watched the veggie tales story of St Patrick. (10 min video on YouTube)

  • Is anyone else's kids wild today? Idk what's going on with my group today!

So much energy, not following rules, yelling inside, running inside.

We're having an early lunch so they can lay down TGIF.

Any chance there's a storm heading your way? My mother was a teacher's aid when I was a kid and she swore she could tell a storm was coming based on the kids' behavior. I've noticed the same thing with my daycare kids. Or maybe they just have a case of the "Fridays"? ;-)

I had a past parent that did that all the time!!! His mom would pop in once he started kdg just to visit because dcb “missed Ms, C sooooo much”. It stopped when I moved. I’m sure she was shocked when she knocked and it was a new family living there. 😅

    • First kiddo arrives this morning and within 20 min throws up all over herself, my couch, and her blankie😫

And now you and dcks have been exposed, when you otherwise wouldn’t have, since it’s the first day of the week. 😖

        Sounds familiar

DCBs (twins) Arrive and within 10 minutes, one of them is sick. DCM left quickly that morning.

Me: DCB just threw up and DCM is not answering
DCD: I am at a site on the other side of the state and DCM is in a meeting with her phone off. I can call my parents.
ME: Yes that would be great

DCD: They are on their way, they should be there in an hour or so.

        1-hour passes

Me: Your parents haven't arrived yet.
DCB: They left 30 mins ago and it is a little over an hour's drive

        45 min later they arrive

    • Started back to work 3/6 and found out while i was off that the teacher that's in the 4 year old room now has a new assignment, she is over all the food program paperwork and cooks (she's the one that i wrote about in discruntled employee a while back). So yesterday i was fixing snack and she decided to complain about the way i was doing it and said that if something was wrong with the numbers that she would get chewed out and that i would get chewed out as well so pretty much she was trying to make herself look good again! She even threatened to complain that i was on my phone to much and that i was being loud but she won't tell how she got fired from her other job and then lied to all of us!
