  • Dcm asked me last week if I'd have a drop in spot available today because she had to go out of town for work. I told her yes. She picks him up and I ask how going out of town was. She tells me that it got cancelled yesterday, so she went home and did nothing. In my head, I'm like "so, you paid a higher price for daycare that you didn't need just to go home and do nothing?" And by the way, I've learned that she has a lot more of these "doing nothing" days than I thought, so it's not like she doesn't get them. I mean, more money for me, so I don't care. It just makes me go

I find myself wondering WTH a lot more than I used to…so much of what parents do now days boggles my mind. lol!

  • Naptime

Dcg, fully potty trained gets sent to the bathroom to try before she goes down. I have her say her abc and not just hop on and off.

Less than an hour later about 45 min, she gets up and goes to the bathroom. I was on the phone and noted what time I heard/saw her get up. 15 minutes go by (I had heard a flush awhile ago) and I go to check on her. She is washing her arms, I tell her to hurry up and send her back to nap.

She cries and cries a fake cry as she goes back to nap. She stops after a while but then later on starts crying again after I took another call. When I get done and check on her and she has wet herself. (I can see her the whole time except when she is in the bathroom)

By this time it has been about 15- 20 minutes since she left the bathroom. I wouldn't of stopped her if she got up again as long as I heard the toilet opening and not the sink water.

She has done this before when she had a pull up on, she go play on the bathroom after ten minutes I would send her back to nap, she would cry as she walked back to nap and wet herself, then cry and when I checked on her, tell me she had peed. Then she would change and go back to nap.

    .

I feel bad because I didn't go to her right way but why didn't she go to the bathroom?
    Good Bye

Have mom take her to the doctor - I bet she has one. Especially with the low grade fever. I just dealt with this a week or so ago.

Here temp was normal after nap. I did tell dcm what happened and recorded it in daily connect. If it happens again I will say something.

No UTI - just a case of negative attention. She gets bored fighting sleeping during nap and she will rip the book she has to look at. Then try to hide the evidence. -

  • Why are the kids' coughs always worse at nap??

We've got an employee whose daughter keeps having them and she does the same thing! She took her this week or last week and got her some more medicine because she started having symptoms again.

    • I have a new kiddo starting Mon and dcm texts today asking if he can have his water bottle (they are not allowed to bring outside food or drinks, we went over this at interview AND it’s in the handbook) and then asked for my Venmo information (I only accept cash or Zelle, AGAIN, this was told to her at interview AND it’s in the handbook) 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️Sheesh!!!

My guess is that she toured with another daycare and they have Venmo.

    • I am so frustrated. My family has been through 6 dentists in the past 5 years. Trying to find a new one is getting harder.

We had one retire, one was not a good fit, another one that retired but sold his practice to a dentist that hired a dentist that left after a year then the replacement dentist refused to work with my dd with selective mute. Our current dentist just dropped our insurance and we thought we could afford to pay the difference or that we would pay the no-insurance price but we were wrong.

So now I have called and researched dentist after dentist and either they don't take our insurance or they won't take our kids, because of her SM and his age (5 years old).

(American Dental Association has the right to refuse service and does not have to accommodate according to the American Disability Act)

Oh, how frustrating. Especially having to deal with all that confusion.

Our insurance is through my husband's work. Our doctors use an app/portal for communication. At some point, they signed our billing up for electronic bills. I have explained to them that my account only shows what is owed but his account, which he does not use, shows the bill. If they want the bill paid then they have to send a bill via mail or unlock my account to see the bill. I keep ignoring a $25 bill because I can not view it. They are our kids not just his and I should be able to see the bill for my child.

That is what they told me! Because it’s his insurance, he’s is considered the guarantor. Which is fine… but MAIL the bill. LOL

Hippa crap for married couples drives me nuts.

DH and I had the same Doctor's office. They always schedule the appointments one year and a day or more from the last appointment. I was in the office for my appointment and knew his appointment was coming up but the date was not on our calendar. I knew he had labs and we always have the lab order sent to a closer lab than the one at the doctor's office.

Normally I just call but thought since I was here I would just ask. Because his consent to release information had expired she refused to tell me.

They gave me a new form, which I complete, signed, crossed off the words"one year" and wrote infinity, I made a copy of it and dropped it off. I got his appointment time and never had trouble with the office since. However, I never say that clerk again.

    • DCM, at drop off for dcb4, told me she would be going back to work next week as she's been off for maternity leave; I had told her when she told me she was pregnant that I WOULD NOT have space for another infant as I had already told two other families that were expecting that I would have space for them....NO THIRD BABY!

Today, she says 'so, can you take my baby now'...me 'NO MAM, I explained that to you from the beginning'.....she says 'well, I don't have anyone and we aren't on any waiting lists;.....I really don't even reply but with my 'what?' look.....

POOR PLANNING ON YOUR PART doesn't constitute an emergency on mine!!!!

        • Gonna put in the last few weeks things I've heard in the mornings at drop off

          Ms. XXXX

Dcb4 says your house is cold so he wore long pants, long sleeves and jacket....will you please take his jacket off when you go outside.

Dcg3.5 says SHE wants to lay down and is tired....will you carry her in..( I did NOT carry here in....took her hand and dcm put her down with a mean stare toward me)

Dcb5 swings all over the porch/rails to the steps, and NO one says ANYTHING so I told him he HAD to follow the rules at drop off and same rules apply as inside the daycare and he would receive consequences..( another big/bad stare that DOES NOT scare me)

Dcb5 faceplants EVERY morning as he stays up ALL NIGHT watching TV....dcm wants ME to keep him awake.

My younger kids are my better kids right now....they like to learn and actually listen/follow directions better than the older kids

I feel bad when I type this BUT I REFUSE to BLAME myself anymore..... I've always had a couple kids in number that were needy/cingy/self-centered/babied/etc. but they are in the majority now?

          Oh well, HAPPY THURSDAY!

Oh, he did, and it was a hoodie so he had trouble and got angry but he did it. LOL

        • This is incredibly petty of me to even vent about, but here it is. Dcd brought in a box of diapers (Luvs….not their usual brand) on Monday. Yesterday at pickup, in front of another parent, dcd said, “Are those his diapers he’s been wearing?” I said, “Yes, those are from the box you brought Monday….they are Luvs.” Dcd: “Oh, okay. I was concerned that you were putting him in someone else’s diapers.”

          🙄🙄🙄

          • A couple of years ago, we had 2 employees quit back to back because one wanted to be a stay at home mom and the other was offered a job to watch her sister in laws kids and get paid by the state to do it so they wouldn't have to go to daycare (?) So fast-forward to today and we all find out that they BOTH filed unemployment and when they filed they gave a false reason instead of saying they both voluntarily quit and now we find out that not only did they do that but they technically stole money from the daycare when they did that. (The Alabama Unemployment Compensation Law provides for a delay or disqualification from receipt of benefits if: 1. You voluntarily quit your job without a good cause connected with the work. Personal reasons for quitting a job (i.e., lack of transportation, moving, etc.)

            • It’s 8:30.

My 7:45, 8:00 and 8:15 haven’t arrived today. They haven’t called out. But to prove my point, that being on time is important, I am leaving for breakfast with DD3.

Family 1 with the 7:45 drop off: Text me at 9:00 and asked me what the cut off time was for drop off. I told them I wasn’t home, I left at 8:30 because I hadn’t heard anything from them. They told me they were debating on keeping DCK home anyways and to have a good day.

Family 2 with the 8:00 drop off: They were out sick yesterday, so I expected them to possibly be out. I did reach out to confirm before I left home.

Family 3 with the 8:15 drop off: No call, no showed. They constantly do this, one day it will bite them.

I am so tired of people no call/no showing. I think it is rude and inconsiderate of my time. My contract allows me to turn them away if they’re 15 mins late for drop off.

              • DCP: Just a reminder, X’s last day is Friday.

Me: I wasn’t made aware of this. I will send home X’s belongings this week and I’ll send a final invoice. This can be paid today or Monday.

The parent didn’t argue, so I’m assuming they knew they didn’t tell me.

Maybe it is their way of letting you know without telling you to your face.

I had a dcm that sent gma to drop off with a note. Afterwards dcm wouldn't look me in the eye for last to weeks.

Another one put a note in my mailbox over the weekend.

Alwaysgreener I suppose it’s possible that’s the case too.

              • it is 55 this morning and DCg arrives in leggings. Dcm says here is a pair of shorts to change her in to in the afternoon. (High of 82 today, however the big pine tree keeps the playground cooler.)

This is the same parent that dresses Dcg in four layers in the winter. Short or long sleeve shirt, a sweatshirt, a fleece jacket and then proceeds to put on the most snow suit ever.(Only leggings on her legs under the snow suit) Dcg was uncomfortable hot, I didn't realize how many layers she had on until we returned from the bus stop 15 minutes later. Yes it was 20 degrees but that is really not that cold.
