  • Going on two weeks with this broken ankle and I am so irritated cause I can't go and do as fast as normal and I hate asking anyone to do any thing....cause I am so used to doing for myself and moving quickly all day long......My family has been great but they aren't ME and we don't have the same thinking on the importance of certain things especially when it comes to being pro-active

I'm sorry you're going through such a tough time; it's got to be frustrating. How many more weeks before the ankle should be healed?

Well, hopefully it'll "only" be 4 weeks. If so, you're halfway there! Hang in!

  • Did a virtual meet with a family with an unborn baby. They won't need care until the end of October. The email me back and said they felt that I was a good fit. Then asked to come meet me and see my home. They came Tonight, we talked and I thought we hit it off well, we were talking like they were going to be starting. After 30 minutes I escorted them to the door because I had a another virtual meeting. After the virtual meeting with the other family, I checked my emails and found that they had posted on Facebook they're looking for an in-home daycare in less than 30 minutes after they had left my home. Guess that means that we were not a good bit after all.

I did send an email last night, stating it was nice to meet them and to let me know if they wanted to move ahead with the paperwork. I'm really not that worried, they choose me if they choose me if they don't they're lost.

I was mostly just venting on how quickly they posted after they left my house.

That's a pretty amazing track record! Glad you're feeling better.

    • DCM texts me first thing this AM saying DCB2 is throwing up, but otherwise fine. She said she’d keep DCB2 home but asked if she could bring DCB3. I told her yes - I don’t exclude siblings because so far, I haven’t had an issue with anything spreading.

She gets here and goes on and on about how normal the DCB2 is is acting and how it must’ve been something he ate because on Sunday, DCB3 threw up… but he ate something bad 🤬

WHY DO PARENTS DENY THEIR CHILD IS SICK?!

I sent her home with the older boy. They can return Thursday.

      • I knew it was coming. It is hilarious, but more appropriate for this thread.

Over 20 posts locally for "need affordable babysitter 6am-6pm, some weekends", "won't charge an arm and leg for three kids, 7am-6pm", "single mom with 5 kids under 5, varied hours" and my personal favorite "free or cheap sitter for 2 boys, some light housekeeping required. Must love dogs. Disney + available. Can bring up to two children with approval".

In other news, there were several posts asking for free or cheap attorneys to do Child Support Modifications as well.

I once had a woman reach out for 6 AM to 6 PM care, 5 days each week, even asked me about weekends.
Of course I got the “single mom, working and going to school” story. I finally told her I wouldn’t keep any child for that length of time at my advertised rate. So, she proceeded to ask what I would charge her. I told her I wasn’t interested. I should’ve responded, “I’ll have to see a current child support worksheet and get back to you!”

      • I don't know what's up with the kids, but I'm already done with this day

Dcb4 had a massive tantrum because I told him to clean up the toys he was playing with. Hyperventilating, crying for mom, the works. Then started crying because another kid was following him.

Dcb5 crying at lunch because another child was "being annoying" by talking over him.

Dcb4 crying because he didn't have a cup yet and apparently I wasn't moving fast enough.

I think nap might be early today.

      • Dcm made a big deal that she wanted to spend as much time as possible with dcg this summer. Told me dcg wouldn't be here everyday. She even wanted to change her contract to fewer days, but decided against it.

Guess how many days she has kept her home? ZERO.

But, she has been spending a lot of time with her other kids and doing fun things with them, so there's that. It really doesn't bother me that dcg is here all the time. I just wonder if dcm feels guilty at all after making a huge deal about it, and then not following through.

Thankfully, this family is aging out of my care very soon. I always wonder what these parents (the ones who's kids are in care everyday regardless of the reason why) are going to do when they don't have everyday care when they want it 🤔

They will do the same thing they will do when their adult children don't call...... whine and play victim.

      • I have a covid policy that I haven't canceled yet that if child is old enough they can walk to the door by themselves. But the parent or guardian that dropped off cannot leave until I have cleared them by taking a temperature and checking them over.

Grandma drops off today I had to lay down the baby before I could go to the door. My son who is 3 years old open the door but not the screen door, the 4-year-old came to the door open the screen door and grandma left while I was still in the other room laying down the infant. She never saw me.

Dad on the other hand doesn't let the kids out of the car until I open the door. And then after I take the temperatures I waved him before he leaves.

        • Ugh. And another one!

Need to fill a spot and had a parent very interested and wanted to start as soon as I had an opening. She knew I had a spot open in a few weeks and message me recently to make sure we were still good for dck to start soon. Messaged her today and she let me know she got a call from the other daycare and is going that route instead. UGH. I don't even know how to respond to that.

I'd go with "Thanks for letting me know." and then add them to the NO list if they call back. IME, they generally do sometime before the kids goes to school. Usually when their provider tried to take a paid vacation.

        • Wednesday, I was notified of a confirmed RSV case in my daycare. I messaged all parents to keep their kids home if they have a fever, runny nose or cough.

DCM comes in today, claims to have checked DCB temp and he has no cough or runny nose.

Within 10 minutes, the child coughs 🙄

          • Yesterday I took down the last vestige of my home daycare- the outdoor wooden play structure. My kids don’t use it and it was either spend $ to fix it up or scrap it. Still I’m surprised that it bothered me when it came down.

            • My youngest (17) has been working on the farm, hauling hay, cleaning gutters, etc. this summer.....he gets lots of calls and always tells me he hates talking to people on the phone so I have done alot of his scheduling along with 'telling him he HAS to learn to deal with people' UNTIL TODAY. He had two calls this morning....one to come spray round-up around the man's farm THEN THE MAN ASKED IF MY SON HAD HIS OWN SPRAYER AS HE DIDN'T WANT TO GET HIS OUT OF BARN.....the other lady wants some items moved from the house to the carport and needs it done ASAP but WHEN I CALLED BACK TO TELL HER HE WAS AVAILABLE THREE HOURS AGO AND HAVE CALLED 10 TIMES SINCE, SHE DOESN'T ANSWER!!!!!

              • Drives me crazy when parents just hang around at pick-up. Drives me EXTRA crazy when they're the last one.

Like, don't you have things to do?? Don't you want to go home? Eat dinner? Do something other then stand there and watch your child not listen to you?

"DCM, I need to use the restroom. I have been holding it waiting on you for the last 30 minutes. I need you to make pick-up quick." or change to bye-bye outside and get your life back.

              • Today has been hard. There has not been a time where someone was not crying. At all. The. Entire. Day. Noise, literally every second.

All is expected, and normal. I transitioned two big kids out and two infants in. One more infant to come. One arrived two weeks early without warning. The two's left in the middle are figuring our their roles in the pack. The lingering big kid (red shirter) is pi$$ed at me. Everyone extended their hours by arriving at opening time starting this week, too, since school goes back tomorrow. Looks like a procession out there at 731.

Normal, everyday stuff. But, I need quiet, soon. An hour and a half to go.
