The two's left in the middle are figuring our their roles in the pack. The lingering big kid (red shirter) is pi$$ed at me. Everyone extended their hours by arriving at opening time starting this week, too, since school goes back tomorrow. Looks like a procession out there at 731.

Normal, everyday stuff. But, I need quiet, soon. An hour and a half to go.

Down to one, now. OSHA: 110dB - Requires hearing protection if an employee is exposed for 30 minutes. That is the level of a baby crying. Maybe it is time to invest in noise minimizing headphones as part of my stress reduction program. I can't hurt, for sure.

  • I am so tired of people misconstruing what I say and turning my words around for their own agenda....So hurt and angry this morning! Are there any true friends anymore? I'm having to work through making amends with my brother that didn't think I would 'say' what was told him I 'said' but had to ask me anyway. So angry and sad! and there is no sense with trying to explain myself to anyone else but I will get some grief from this. It's a small issue that turned into a giant molehill.

I'm sorry. Seems everyone is on edge these days and up is down and left is right....and everyone sees and hears only what they want to. I remember my dad always saying everyone can hear but no one listens anymore.

Hoping you are able to resolve this issue without too much resentment. (((hugs)))

      Sending lots of hugs! ❤️

  • I'm so upset. My son and I leave for Florida on Saturday, he has space camp at the Kennedy Space Center. DCB5 comes in today with his sister DCG3 and said he threw up the last two days. I immediately call their mom and tell her to pickup, They cannot be here having thrown up in the last 24 hours. She assures me it was actually Monday night he threw up (they weren't scheduled Tues and Wed). I reluctantly allow them to stay. Sure enough, lunch time comes around and DCG3 throws up all over the table. They were sent home and I have been sanitizing for the last 2 hours. Ugh! I sure hope my son and I don't get sick before our flight!

You know that he's been puking at home. It would be quite the coincidence if the one time he pukes in a couple days is at your house.

Also, throwing up on the table is so gross! When someone does it here, that's where it usually happens. Yuck. I hate cleaning up puke.

I hope you and your son stay germ free and have an awesome trip!

  • Disclaimer: regardless of how I feel about covid, it is controlling my daycare! I am open but Family child cares all around me in neighboring counties are closed for quarantines effective this weekned forward; elementary schools have been in session one week and already have classrooms quarantining. Vaccination is available but it doesn't SOLVE the problem.. It does allow you NOT to quarantine but there are so many unvaccinated that quarantines are happening all too often. In that sense, vaccination would help this issue! I am NOT looking forward to doing this another FALL/SPRING! Our governor exended some orders for hospitals and I look for more protocol extensions just like last year this upcoming week. My nurse cousin says they have ptsd from all the 'holding the phone to covid patients ears in their dying days as family can't physically be with these patients'. 3 of her patients died this week. Right or wrong or however you feel, this is emotionally draining when your child care business hangs in the balance every moment of every day! A local radio news guy has downplayed covid from the start and belittled the government and our local govoner....well sadly he is now on a ventilator fighting for his life.... I know we can't stop living but ??? I'm just rambling but I am overwhelmed right now!!!!

People need to get vaccinated and refuse to because they either don't care or have this excuse of my body my choice. It doesn't really help any when we've got children getting sick and they can't even get vaccinated and we're literally begging people to get it

If people have the “my body, my choice” mentality with abortions then I’m not sure why that shouldn’t apply to a vaccination…?

  • I have a brother that can't be vaccinated because of his health so everyone can't be vaccinated. However, these people not vaccinated like my milliniel cousins need to quarantine like they should if they aren't going to get vaccinated. They are so mad as we have cancelled any group activity with them and did so again last night but two of them has covid and NO ONE is quarantining. That is disrespectful and irresponsible. In my opinion of course!

    • Do you have that one kid that is just loud? I swear, this kid cannot talk in a normal tone. He has to yell every time he talks. Always making some kind of loud noise.

My group will be so quiet and calm, until this kid shows up.

      It's exhausting.

I do have one of those kids! He's a sweetie but after listening to his loud, shrill voice all day, I end up with a headache pretty much every afternoon. It feels like my brain is being jackhammered! He has a speech issue (obviously! lol) and he was getting outside help to correct it but that stopped when his preschool closed last year because of the pandemic. He'll be getting services again this school year and my hope is, he makes a lot of progress quickly - and that we don't have another round of lockdowns so he can get the help he needs!

    • For the first time, I have to close down on Friday at 4:00. I feel sooooo guilty, but I really don’t have any other choice in the matter.

Don't feel guilty! Your families should understand. We have lives, too.

Just a piece of advice - I learned the hard way to close AT LEAST a half hour earlier then needed. There's always that one family that will be late.

Sparkles I already saw that advice on the old forum so I did 😎 lol

Thankfully I only have one complaining about me closing early 🙃

    • Saw a Facebook post from a dcp portraying that she's a very involved parent who LOVES spending time with dck.

Cat Herder yes! One of our coils was frozen. We get bad dust and dirt here, so the filter was very dirty, even though it was changed on 6/27. I changed the filter earlier in the day, he let just the fan run so that coil could thaw out. About 4 AM we had to turn it up because it got so cold in the house. I wasn’t complaining though! LOL

        • I was cleaning in the bathroom last evening and the commode literally was so loose it would fall over Luckily my cousin is a plumber.....didn't have the right piece but came early this morning to fix it. If it's not one thing, it's another

I am sorry you are having such a hard time of it lately. Subsidized childcare creates more problems than it solves. I hope things pick up for you, quick.

Thanks! We are good. We practice a lot. A bit awkward with newborns in tow, but we handled it.

        • And in other news, it is going to get worse. So much worse.

"_____ County Schools Covid-19 Response Plan, any person, including students, who has been fully vaccinated is not required to quarantine due to exposure to a positive case unless they develop symptoms."

I am not a worrier by nature, but this is the stupidest bleeping thing I have read to date. My county. Today. With the fact that vaccination does not stop anyone from getting or spreading it. Clearly, stopping the spread is no longer of concern. Let's just have COVID parties and get it all over with early in the school year.

"Oh, sure, Sally, bring Timmy so you can get some rest while you are down with COVID. Be sure to give him some motrin, first, so we don't have to call you in a little while."

Our school started with no mask mandates. Less than 7 days into school, 20 kids tested positive causing over 200 kids to quarantine. It was on day 8 that they mandated the masks again.

These schools need to have a plan!

Our school district has the same rule.

"If a student is vaccinated, they will not be required to quarantine due to direct contact."

It's going to be an interesting year! Hope I'm as lucky as I was last year 🤞I was the only daycare in town that didn't have to close due to exposure.

My concern is the level of exposure. They have completely excluded that as a consideration. They should at least treat it as infectious as pink eye, right? Maybe I am just nervous because I have three kids under one this year. I also wonder what getting a third and fourth time will do to my health, long term. Maybe nothing different from any other flu, we shall see. My husband fought fire a bit longer than I have (I tend to get the door or rehab), we have both been exposed to toxic smoke and ridiculous amounts of CO2 and nitromethane fumes at work so my concern is pretty valid.
