Do you apply another rate daily if you close at 5 but they pick up at 5:30.. please help lol.. I am confused..lol. thank.you

I dont even know if I explained what I am trying to do right..sorry

I know what you are referring to. It is BC and NannyD that use/used it.

So what you do is charge a fee for each additional increment past a certain time.

    Example 4:00 =$1, 4:15 = $2, 4:30 = $3, 4:45 = $4, 5:00 = $5 or 4:00 =$5, 4:15 = $10, 4:30 = $15, 4:45 = $20, 5:00 = $25 and so forth. Then they choose their time and you lock them into it per contract.

Decadense btw that is $x per day. So say you flat rate is $100 until 3:45 and a parent wants care unitil 4:45 daily then it is $20 ( or $100) extra per week.

Also do it any way you want but I believe that you lock them in for the week but you could do it monthly or weekly. Bc once stated that she allow one time change a year. But then they are locked into the that time for rest of the year.

If they are past their pick up time that is when they are charged late fees even if you have others in care.

I don't charge daily and I only separate the rates by an hour so there is only 3 options. Short and simple.

I explained more in my post below :-)

If I remember correctly, they pay for the later time they pick up, regardless of what days they need the different hours. I think the parent can only update their contract annually.

I charge weekly based on pick up time.
My weekly flat rate is for care from opening (7:30) to 3:00.
If a parent wants to pick up at 4:00, their weekly rate is $25 more per week than regular weekly rate
If a parent wants to pick up at 5:00 their weekly rate is $50 more per week than regular weekly rate.

My parents sign a contract for the LATEST time, they'll need.
If they need 3:00 pick up M/W/F but need 4:00 T/Th they must choose the 4:00 pick up option. They can then pick up at 3:00 M/W/F if they want or leave child until their contracted pick up time of 4:00. Their choice.

My parents do not have schedules that change weekly so it's not a hassle to track but IF they did, it would still be fairly easy to adjust as there is only 3 options for pick up times since I charge weekly NOT daily.

If a parent contracts until 3:00 and calls during the day to say they had something come up and can't pick up until 4:00, they are required to call a back up person to pick up at their contracted pick up time. If they can't; charged an additional fee. My rate sheet says the extended time fee is $20 per 15 minutes so even being 16 minutes later than normal would cost them an additional $40. ALL my families have back up people to pick up to avoid the higher fees. If not, I make good money for staying later. lol!

I sent out a rate increase letter when I moved to this method of billing that "sold" it to parents as a way to keep their costs down. Every one of them liked the change.
    I'll message you the letter...

GirlMomma and Alwaysgreener.. I asked this question only because after summer I will not have any parents that will be dropping off before 7 or picking up after 5. So I decided to change my hours starting the Monday after school starts here and I informed the parents that I will have after summer of this change as well as the fact that I am updating my parent handbook and my financial contract and bringing back the program I had pre covid with some updates in September as well. Well, I already have a parent TELLING me that she will not be able to be here by 5 when she has always picked up by 4:30 because she may be getting a promotion that I was never told about until I told her about my hour changes and that the promotion would mandate her to work until 4:30 making it hard for her to be here by 5. So I thought BC's way of charging after a certain time would help me curtail her lateness. Plus, she is already asking questions about the updated contracts before I have even updated them

If a parent tried to tell me they could not be here by my closing time, Id tell them that my program is not for them as I don't stay late for anyone.
If she can't abide by your hours, she needs to go elsewhere. I work for me, NOT for parents. They simply buy the services I offer.
As for the constant asking about information, just tell her she will get the information when everyone else does and can ask questions then NOT before.

Yep, charge her more for that later pick up she was getting ready to blindside you with. A promotion with longer hours means she likely got a pay increase, therefore you should too 😊

@Blackcat and Girlmomma.. I was thinking the same thing about her all of a sudden promotion.. if she is getting a promotion than she will be able to afford the later pick up rate. I did tell her that she has until the 23rd of September to decide wether or not she wanted to abide by the rules of the new contract or not

We charge x amount per week based on age because we do infants through schoolage in our center. If a parent is late they get charged $1 per minute past closing time (6pm)

Decadense Here is Nannyde blog on the pay scale that you are asking about.

        https://www.daycare.com/nannyde/how-...care-rates.htm

Remember, you can follow this exact or adjust it to what works best for you. If I did not do contact hours I would try this method, sometimes I wish I could figure out a way to include this in with contract hours.

I currently have a family that just started, tell me that they needed 10 hours, I know some places give 1-hour lunch breaks so I know it is reasonable and both parents work at the same location. But they drop off up to 15 minutes after the contract time and their business is 30 minutes away, so they should be on time in order to make it to work on time. Plus it is either one parent or the other, not both, if they work together and have to be there are the same time, how come they do not ride together? (My DH and I, when we worked together, always did and we got a carpool discount for doing so) Then on the second day, DCM picked up 20 minutes early but ever since then she comes right at pick-up time. (5:29), I have a feeling that they work from home cause sometimes he drops off with the same car she picks up with. (which also could mean that they only have one car seat)

I considered a sliding scale payment system but decided it would be too much policing. With my group, the mid-price averages out without having to watch the times. I would make a whopping $10 per week but lose time arguing it when they came earlier. I'd lose $10 from the teacher during the school year. This is the form I typed up in preparation, though:

Tuition rates are based upon the total number of hours available per week and chosen departure time.
To give families more control of their personal budget, Mountain Top Childcare and Preschool offers three tuition schedules to choose from.

You may choose which schedule works best for your family upon enrollment and change with a 30 day notice.
Late pick-ups will be billed at $1.00 per minute.
Overtime must be pre-arranged and approved.

            A: Departure by 3:30 pm – 42 Hours - $135.00 week
            B: Departure by 4:30 pm – 47 Hours - $145.00 week
            C: Departure by 5:30 pm – 52 Hours - $155.00 week

            * Earliest arrival time is 7:30 am. *

Sorry for the late response. Life got really hard this past week and a half.

You will notice the math is off on the hours. Initially it said 7:00 am arrival time. I got as far as updating it to my new 7:30 hours and then scrapped the whole thing. lol!! So it will be 40, 45, and 50 hours, respectively, if you open at 7:30 like me.
