  • DCK Sleeping In

This seems to be the thing this week - DCP letting their kids sleep in. 🙄

My drop off cut off is 10:00.

One DCK, who is normally here before 8:30, showed up at 9:30. DCP said they let the kid sleep in. I didn’t feed the kid breakfast because it was well past the time I feed the kids. Obviously the kid was CRANKY! DCK didn’t nap at all, just laid there. Thankfully, the kid wasn’t disruptive during nap.

Another DCP text me to say they’re coming but will be later because they’re letting DCK sleep in. Normally the kid is here around 7:45… it’s nearly 8:30 and who knows when they’ll be here.

Do you have a policy on this or do you tell parents you’ll call for pick up if they don’t nap/are disruptive during nap?

I don't have a cut off time but if a parent tells me their child slept in, I simply reply with "Ok. I'll let you know if they need to be picked up at rest time."

If a child just lays on their mat and quietly rests no big deal but if the child refuses to lay quietly or is disruptive to the other kids I call or text and say "DCK is having trouble staying quiet at rest time due to sleeping in and since the other children need to sleep without the distraction, you'll need to come pick DCK up within the next 15 minutes. Thank you!"

It's unfair to the other kids to allow one child to disrupt the normal routine here. It's GROUP care.
