I made one and it cost almost $0. I used an under the bed storage tote that I already had, string lights and parchment paper. I lined the inside of the container and lid with the parchment paper, arranged the lights (taping them in some places) and broke a hole in one corner of the box for the plug. It was a bit tricky taping the paper bc its designed not to stick to stuff, but if you use masking tape it should work.1 Photo

My coworker did the same thing! She just used a ton of Christmas lights (two sets). THe parchment paper was a pain for us too. I used some spray adhesive (walmart or dollar tree) and sprayed the inside lid and pressed the paper to it. stuck like a charm, still lit up ok and it was all good! Spray adhesive works for sticking just about anything.

My light box (actually more of a light pad) came yesterday. I think it’s going to be good! The kids were already gone when it came, so they haven’t seen it yet. My group typically isn’t destructive....they’ve been with me since they were tiny, and almost all 5 now, so they’ve been taught here to respect my things. I think it will hold up fine with them.
I also ordered these fun transparent stones. 🙂
