Yeah I almost commented the same. I make all my potty trained kids go before we go out because everyone has to come in so they can go.

    It’s the same in Indiana

Here it would be against regs. Everyone has to go out.

I also have an outdoor diaper changing station with a hand washing sink because if anyone soils their diaper, everyone would have to come back in. Every. Time.

Otherwise, the kids are considered "unsupervised". Logic is no longer applied.

Momboss absolutely! It’s a local contractor but they work in the metro area as well…

Is there any way you could get the info of the company who did it for her? Since we are in the same state lol

I know my county wouldn’t allow it as a neighbor provider had the same issue with her daycare (split entry house)
She ended up getting the door put in but paid for it via a grant. I don’t think her estimates were even close to 30k though and were a lot cheaper
You’d have to call your zoning, fire Marshall and probably licensing to be sure if your idea is acceptable or not

    CONGRATULATIONS on the house purchase!!

    Going Outside Through a Window

So I bought a split level home and will be doing daycare in the basement. The basement is half above ground half below, so none of the windows are egress, they are all above ground. I was thinking i could have an exterior door installed so we can have access to the backyard and thought it would be as simple as digging out the ground a little bit. Turns out it will cost over 30k. So my next thought-the windows are very large, slide side to side, would it be an issue to build a small stair to reach the window and have the kids go in and out through a large window? Any reason why this would be a licensing violation?
otherwise we have to go through the front door and around to the side gate. I wanted the ability to stay inside with infants and still be able to see and hear the older kids outside.
Working...
