Adults refusing to come up on the porch to sign in. Yet also refusing to let the (huge, capable, opportunistically dramatic) kids walk up on their own, blocking the narrow stairway, requiring me to do daredevil, physics defying, gymnastics to levitate the children to safety. Often injuring myself.

"I'm not holding him/her, she/he has a hold on me." - A new breed of permissive parenting? Kinder servant?

I complain, but I do prefer it to the ones who seem to not even connect at all. If I had to choose my battles... and I do, this is the one.

It does hurt a bit by the afternoon, though.

My cousin teaches kindy and is in her 28th year.....trying to make it to 30 but said this would probably be her last year for things you describe; said she would have kids going to 1st grade not knowing their abc's as she spends too much time just trying to make it though the day and keep everyone safe.....said between the non-stop talking, cussing, hitting, rolling their eyes when she reads a book, etc. she was so done!!!! She said this is NOT about covid like everyone says, it's about parenting being so chaotic and downright BAD!!!!

I did student teaching in the spring to earn my teaching license and that was the consensus from the teachers, that covid was used as an excuse for lazy parenting.
We had Kids in first and second grade crying if they pooped at school because they didn’t know how to wipe And would get upset the teachers wouldn’t help. Kids not understanding that they were responsible for their sweaters/coats and parents throwing fits that they kept losing them.
it’s crazy because these kids are going to grow up thinking that’s the norm

.....that are the most annoying sometimes.

The same eye rolling routine "T" does when she comes in every morning. It stopped being cute a long time ago
Having to find "B"'s socks every day and explain why he can't hide them when he has a meltdown because I am taking them and just putting them in his cubby basket
Reminding "M" that she isn't my assistant and doesn't need to "police" the other kids when they are playing. I got this.
Wiping the noses of kids that suddenly become WWF wrestlers and fight me the whole time.
Reminding "L" that just because she wears underwear now doesn't mean she needs to pull down her pants and show everyone. everyday.
Explaining to "W" on her off preschool days that she goes to preschool 3 days a week and that life goes on here even on the days she isn't here.
Listening to "C"'s dad talk to me in baby talk as if he is "C" and is talking to me himself.
Telling "M" all.day.long. that I am not here to tell her "Good job!" every time she blinks


It's only Tuesday and I am seriously considering changing my name
