Ahhh! Found it! My notification “inbox” was empty though, and I’ve had alerts set up since I registered.

I tried changing a few options in the admin section. I’m not sure if they will help. I would like a place to see ALL the new comments and channels in a one stop place like the old forum had with New Posts.

Alwaysgreener’s comment to my previous post prompted me to check my user settings. I do have notifications turned on (but that’s different than my current question)…which leads me to this new question: I chose to get notifications through “my Message Center”. Where is the Message Center?

If I pick a specific “topic” (thread), and then click latest activity, it does seem to be easier to FIND new comments! There just doesn’t seem to be an automatic update to the main list to show that a comment was added, or I’m still doing something wrong which is prob more likely….

Ok so I checked out “latest activity,” and I don’t see new comments registered there either. Fresh replies and quote replies definitely are.

Ok, so it’s not “notifications”. It’s that the list on the main page does not flag when comments are added under posts. It alerts for new “post reply” or “quote reply” but not for comments. So when I go to the list of posts/threads, I see that the last new thing under this thread was my comment, sent at 5:01 PM on May 22. But clearly, since then, Michael has replied as have you and I. I see a tab for “Latest Activity” that I admittedly have not checked out! My bad, as the cool kids say. I will go poke around there. Maybe that’s what I’m doing wrong.

Okay if I understand this correct PB&J does not get notifications for comments on threads but she gets notification for replies. While I get notifications for comments, replies and likes. I think there is something in settings that allowed me to choose those notifications.

However the daily emails I get only contain replies and not comments.

Ok just making sure I wasn’t missing a setting or doing anything wrong. Your comment here didn’t flag as new content. I had to come back in and see if anyone commented - - only pointing this out to clarify what I mean. So, to be aware of any “comments” to a post (vs a quote-reply), we have to check every comment.
I’m glad you’re keeping daycare.com vital! I hope you don’t mind me pointing out what could be bugs (as opposed to me just not figuring things out yet!!)

I’m trying to figure out a way to view New Posts like the old forum but I have yet to figure that one out.

I’ve noticed that comments to a post/reply don’t “register” or alert as new unread content. “Post Reply” and “Quote” replies trigger an update, but not comments within/to a specific reply. I missed a comment on one of my posts (and others, as I subsequently learned) because it didn’t show as a more recent comment than the original one…if you can follow my explanation here. Is there a way to be sure we are made aware when comments to posts are made? Not just our own, but on threads in general.

unregistered can post just like the old one but they don't have as many privileges as members and definitely can't get into the sensitive channels. I'm headed to Florida for two weeks but will be here every day. You can as Admin make changes to anything if need be.

Out of curiosity can unregistered posters post on this board too or is registration required in order to post or read?

You may have noticed I added some of the smileys from the old forum that you can use in your posts. Let me know if there is anything else I can add or change.
