My newsletter has been so empty lately. What topics do you put in your newsletter besides policy reminders and closure dates?

Since we were given some tech help with local state personnel, I have revamped my newsletters for the same reason you posted.....I began in January using the CANVA site and I use the pay-subscription/but there are lots FREE on there....I love it.... I've added a Kids Korner with a quote about learning through play/reading to your kids/etc.. Then I've added a Healthy TidBITs for healthy sleep/eating/behavior/etc. Then the usual Reminders/upcoming events., etc. CANVA allow you to do so much....and make it fun to read. I've had compliments on it and anything I get out of some of these parents makes me know it's REALLY GOOD as they don't notice much these days except price/time. My coach is awesome but I still have to google alot to see how to change a color or add a pic. Check it out. Same for the calendars or flyers or just whatever.

I do some of frogstreet curriculum so monthly I make a scan of my newsletter, calendar, theme page from frogstreet with two other forms for parents from frogstreet and text to parents. they love it that way.

If you haven't ever done so, check out CANVA.....when I was first introduced to it, I was overwhelmed but you can google anything for instructions My coach spend 2.5 hours with me one afternoon and it was so fun, didn't even notice the time and the parents responding is HUGE!!!!

Thanks for the tip. My DD school uses CANVA, as the receiver to that it annoys me when the restart pops up. The school also used it for supply list and it was impossible to print the list. I did find a way around it though.

My dh uses CANVA to create Logos for church and for my DC and he loves it..

I always download the canva paper and then print it or save and send it wherever I want it to go.

I don't always put the same things, so each month looks different. I try to highlight anything that I think is important, showcases my program and what I think the parents would enjoy seeing.

Monthly theme, what were learning (shape, number, etc.), photos of the kids working on crafts/activities, quotes (about the month, season, holiday or about kids, childcare and learning). Last months highlights, what were looking foward to this month and thanking parents for bringing in supplies (snack or other items).

I also use Canva and send the pdf to parents to view.

I send out newsletters every 3-4 months. Usually around the season change so I can update parents about things that are required (clothing etc) as well as days that are coming up that my program is closed. I also add in reminders about any policies that have been an issue. I add a couple informational sections in about topics we are working on in care or that I think parents might/should know (healthy eating habits, family activities, community events).

Im old school though and haven't figured out any of these fun new apps/programs like Canva and just use Word. lol!

Nothing wrong with word; when all else fails, word will prevail. BUT I do really like CANVA!
