  • Open Late or Close All Day

I have a meeting at school for my DD that I need to attend. I don't have the say on the time or say date.

It is scheduled for Thursday the fourth at 1030. I would be done and home by 1130 at the latest.

On Thursdays I have less kids. My first two are SA and arrive at 7, then leave by 8. They return at 4 with dd. So I won't need to close for them.

My next family shows up at 845 and leaves by 530. This parent is a realtor and has flexibility with her day.

I have never really opened late before except one time when DD missed the bus and I quickly sent a message to this dcm and opened at 9 for her instead of 845.

So do I open late at 1130/12 or close for the day for her?

i would close all day. First off, the school might be on time or the meeting might not start on time either.....It will be less stressful just to close for the day!

For me, it depends. I get paid either way. If I was only expecting one child for the entire day (besides the SA kids of course) and I knew DCM has flexibility in her schedule, I’d close and do something with my youngest.

Simply going to the park means the world to DD3.5!

I would just close, it's easier that way. Don't have to worry about rushing home or being late if things run longer than expected.

I voted for "close" because of personal experience with IEP meetings for my kids. They were always very contentious, and I left each one feeling as though I had been through a boxing match so opening for daycare right after a meeting would have been difficult for me. Fun times! lol

Me too! They rarely are just simple, straight, andspeedy for my dd. Easier to just clear your day n have that as your only worry.

Our IEP meeting was today at 1pm to 1:30pm. 2 people were late and it didn’t start until 1:10pm and didn’t end until 2:15.
This was just an annual review but it was mentally exhausting. I had the boxing gloves on for a bit so by the end, I had time to wash some of the daycare dishes and run to get the school kids. By 5pm I was just done!
            I’d close

You got a point. During the first one in the fall they said that we could make changes for the Middle School in the spring.

So everything that I had on my list for Middle School I put off to the side during the meeting.

When the principal called me with the date and time he says we won't be making any changes to the 504 plan.

I plan on saying something at the meeting.

Anyways My husband has the day off and by the time dcg arrives she would eat lunch with ds, have recess, then take a nap, snack, (SA and dd arrive) recess and go home.

My problem with closing is that I just took spring break off, and then May is birthday month for my kids and Memorial Day and our 25th anniversary. So I'll be closing 3 Mondays in a row (plus a Tuesday) and only working one full week in May if I close on the 4th.

I wouldn't be questioning what to do if it hadn't been for the fact that there's only one kiddo coming and (sometimes DS easier to handle when she's here.)

Take the emotion out of the decision and add in the business-logic.......

I scheduled it as a open late. When I talked to her, she tells me that she has a conference and Dcg will not be here that day.
