    Old Forum with New Functionality

    Many of you know that the original forum( which is now the forum archive) was created in 2007 and was left behind because of its older software. It was not mobile-ready and could not be upgraded for a variety of reasons. At the time I wanted the newer look and feel, that this forum has, but was unable to upgrade the old content to the new format so I had to leave it behind. We started this new forum from scratch. Many new members found the old forum through search engines because it had so much content and was well indexed.

    After much research and money, I am now currently paying professional programmers to combine the two. Meaning: The old forum will look and function like this one but have all of your content and pictures from the old forum. There is a downside: I can not bring along the content here from this forum.

    I want to know what everyone's thoughts and options are on this. I'm of the belief that the new/old forum will bring in new members to the new format, combined with the 17 years of knowledge base .

      I think the content of the old forum is much more valueable than the info we have on this board thus far. NOT that we haven't discussed and shared important things because we have but as a long standing member of the board, I would say we've discussed nothing new. Most issues that require advice or asistance with have been addressed previously and although the details are different, the context of the issues are the same.

      I think that using the old board as an archive is diffucult for many and although it brings in traffic due to it's large content, it doesn't necessarily bring people here to this board. So it feels dsconnected to me so I would much prefer that if we have to lose one or the other, I'd prefer it be this one. I personally think it would be more beneficial to build off the old board due to it's foundation being so much more.

      I'll stay either way of course but if I read the options correctly, that is my input.

        As a new person that has no idea of the old forum, it sounds like the old forum better serves your purpose of doing this. So go with that.

          I agree. I was very new to the old forum when you updated to this one. I found the old forum to have very good info!

            Delete this forum and move back to the new forum! It's easier to navigate

              Whatever works best for you. I'll adjust to whatever is decided. Slowly, maybe, but I'll figure it out!

                There are no new topics or conversations on it since I had stopped all new registrations and conversation over a year ago on the old forum. You should be able to use your old account if you had one, or register anew. Let me know if you find anything that need to be updated. The Group section looks like a great place use again.

                  Great, you were there originally. I have to get the flow of traffic going there again. Let me know if anything needs to be updated or if you have any ideas to make it more efficient.

                  The test site was under the Traveler server. I decided to give the the CHAT forum it’s own server and IP. It may take 24 to 48 hours to propagate and resolve to the new server. The weekends are always slower so that’s why I made the changeover now.

                  Here, it is up and working as far as I can see. If your not seeing the new site you may need to clear your browser’s cache.

                  I can't get in for some reason it's not letting me in under my name & password plus it's not sending the email to reset the password which is the same as here. HELP, please. I know I don't visit often, but I love catching up once in a while... it is possible my old email was on the old site... it got hacked & now I use emunicorn@yahoo.com
