It is only 8 days til December. Then another 31 to get this year over and done with. Please tell me that 2022 will be better than 2021 because 2021 was not any better than 2020.

Schools here are letting out at 11am on December 17th and don't go back until January 5th. 24 days straight with their own kids.
The calendar was posted last December. Parents procrastinated until this week to even notice and are acting like it is a family crisis come down on their heads. They are poor mouthing, Go Fund Me-ing, and begging for handouts like the sky is falling for childcare. "I am going to lose my job because of this!!!" - Eh, no, school is not childcare and you had 12 months notice.
Are any of you witnessing the same theatrics?

Had some similar chaos happen here this morning. Significant snow fall over night and brutally cold temps this morning so school was started 2 hours late. My phone started blowing up with texts/calls around 6 am wondering if I could take their SA child "just this one time" because they had no one else etc etc etc... blah blah blah..... They ALL know I do not take SA kids. EVER. and the snow storm was forecasted earlier in the week with several mentions of delayed school starts as well...
I am pretty sure this is one of those times in which the "Your failure to plan does not constitute an emergency on my part" saying applies. lol!

Snowmom Right? I purposely don't reply to those texts and ignore my phone ringing (I am not open yet so...)
....and on those days I am closed there is always that one parent that forgets and I laugh when my Ring goes off at my daycare house and I am at my home 5 miles away. Of course, I try to make mention of the incident at the next drop off... "Hey Carol, I saw on my Ring that you were here yesterday when I closed." It's hard to keep a straight face sometimes, even harder when other parents are present and they pipe up and say "Weren't you closed yesterday?" hahaha! Sorry. Not Sorry.

My 7 o clock is going to be late today, my 730 is sick and 830 is coming at 9. My ds3 sleeps til 8/830. So it is just me and DD9 this morning.

I always fear those days. In my experience, motrin is often involved. Be super careful with your health checks and handwashing this morning. Sounds like one is being honest.Last edited by Cat Herder; 12-08-2021, 06:14 AM.

Oh get what you mean, lol, 7 has a Dr appointment (his lateness was pre scheduled with me) and 830 just recently asked to switch their time from 830 to 9 (see positive post)

The 7:00 got a vaccination at his wellness check so he won't be coming after all.

It's only 90 minutes into my work day and I had a child (returning after a week long vacation) have a massive melt down at drop off, a child that had a diaper blow out on the way over (DCM offered to address but I declines...just drop your kid and go...I'll handle it), had a toddler throw up all over the Little Tikes climber/slide, had another toddler slide through said vomit, had a "yelling" conversation with my inconsiderate neighbor about parking in my yard and spilled an entire basket of coffee grounds in between the garbage can and the garbage bag/liner that was in the can.
Thankfully it is Friday and no matter how awful the day gets, that minute hand on my clock is ticking a long at a nice steady speed and it WILL be 5:00 no matter what!Happy Friday peeps!!!

We got straight winds this morning. It took out our flag pole and our power. The restoration for our power is not until Monday morning. If I don't have it at bedtime Sunday night, I end up closing Monday.
I need a shower. The dishwasher is full and the laundry sorted.Last edited by Alwaysgreener; 12-11-2021, 05:54 PM.

Me too, my husband overslept the alarm so he was late to work, he normally uses alarm clock but this morning he had to use his phone so I don't think he heard it. My daughter refused to go to school, she sat in her room refusing to get dressed and had a breakdown before we walked out the door. She missed the bus and was late for school and then had another breakdown when I got her to school. She doesn't do well when things are different and not having power is different.Last edited by Alwaysgreener; 12-13-2021, 07:30 AM.

Good morning everyone!
Yes those storms were terrible! I was a few minutes late heading to work today as I was sucked in watching the news footage of the devastation in Kentucky. How absolutely tragic!! I will say though that the mayor and the governor were so positive when they spoke and were so gracious in thanking everyone that has responded in helping.
Alwaysgreener Im sorry your DD had a rough time this morning. It's so hard for those that thrive on routine and I totally understand her melting down when things are so hectic and unstructured.
Hoping your power is restored soon!!
As for your family that didn't reply, I would maybe text them wondering if everything is okay since they are usually ones to reply and didn't.

BC, was you able to read my pm to you; the forum wouldn't allow me to reply directly to your 'visitor message'. If not, across the state, there is lots of houses damaged and gone altogether but not near the issues going on in Kentucky. That is SOOOOOO SAD! Can't even imagine!

Thanks BC, I thought I had taken care of it last night but she broke down this morning. She'll be good when she gets home but it was still hard to leave her this morning, I just want to protect my child.
I messaged the family and they responded back. Now if the power would be on, all would be great.
