  • Months ago, I informed dc families I would be closed today. We’ve had tickets to see Santana since before Covid, and the concert was rescheduled twice, due to Covid. Now it’s been postponed again, because Carlos Santana collapsed onstage from heat exhaustion at a show a couple of weeks ago.

Last Friday evening, when the news was announced that our concert was postponed, I had a couple of friends here for a girls’ night on the patio. One friend said, “So are you going to tell parents to bring their kids that day, after all?” Me: “Um….NO!!” 😆

    • Good morning everyone! Hopefully it was a good weekend for all!

It's already looking like it will be an odd week... had two no shows this morning. Texted just to see if everything is okay as it is odd for either of these families (one newish/one long time) to not communicate absences. Long time family had a family emergency and will be out of town all week and the newish family stayed home because grandma came to town and decided to stay a day longer than planned... mom thought dad let me know and dad thought mom did.
I also have an older kiddo (SA) out for the week as his family is in Alaska and he is a talker so it's going to be a quiet week.

Of course I hesitate to say an easy week, as every time I have several kids out, the ones that are here tend to become attention seekers and act very needy the whole time.
Why is it the kids that are the most bothersome never take vacation? lol! I genuinely like all my kiddos but there are a few that are more grating than others at times and those are the couple of kids I swear are never ever absent or go on vacation.

Hoping everyone has a good week!

Thanks, y'all! All went well....dh is NOT a traveler but did well despite his dislike of riding in a car for so long....I do the driving as I am a horrible car-sick person if I'm the rider, plus I like to get where I'm going and not waste time.....the interstate is a pinball machine to me or so that's what my brother tells me. LOL

    • DCG comes in this morning with clips in her hair to hold back her bangs. DS comes into the room, stops, and looks at dcg. He then says DCG you are pretty and gives her a hug.

      • Just sent new baby home. She refused the bottle and didn't nap well. What happened to the easy babies I use to get?

It was raining on and off all morning, moments before dcm arrives it starts downpours, heavy which was just before lunch. After lunch it clears up and we can finally get outside.

New baby (10.5m) did better yesterday. She refused the first bottle and napped instead. Once she woke she took the bottle without issue. She had a great rest of the day. 🙂
She may end up being a great new friend.

      • Doing contracted hours was one of the best decisions ever!
DCB4mo is usually here from 10am until 5:30 but DCM asked last week if we could do 8:30-3:30 today. He’s my last pickup so I said “YES!!”
I was excited for an early day off (two days in a row because he isn’t here on Fridays!) and then DCM of DCG1.5 texts that she had a meeting pop up and ask if she can get DCG at 4:45 today. I said “Yep! But don’t forget that late fee of $1/min applies.” She said “starting at 4?” I said “yes, that’s what the hours are on the contract”
she said “got it, thanks.” Lol so either she will find someone else to pick up (her and dcd are the only ones listed on the forms) or I will be making $50 extra today (because I’m sure she won’t be off the property before 4:50)! 🤣
and I don’t feel bad at all because I explained before enrollment and I told her she needed to make sure she had 2 resources for backup. 🤷🏼‍♀️

        • Ex Dcd contact me yesterday, him and ex Dcm both work for the school and the boys attended 2 days a week.

They pulled their boys at the end of school year, they had paid the holding fee for the baby over winter but I didn't not to pay the holding feet over the summer for both boys. Dcm told me that they found family to take care of the boys next school year.

He was requesting care for both boys but for only one day. I have taken one other family one day a week and it just happens to be her cousin kids.

Older dcb was great and transitioned well when they pulled him during dcm maternity leave. The baby on the other hand was big baby (compared to recent others) and took forever to bottle feed plus he spit up half of it. So I have no intentions on taking him until he is off his bottle.

So I decided to respond to ex dcd and told him that I only had space for dcb but not for the baby until February. (A month after the baby b'day ) I haven't told him that my new starting rate is higher by $10.

          • I have one opening which I've had for a little while and another opening in two weeks.....due to state regs they need to be over age 2......not had much luck as families do not want to pay, follow the policy/contract, no-show, etc. It will come but taking it's time. I have two families I would love to enroll but the ages do not work!

I have a pt opening that I am trying to fill. I got a call today the woman said that she had called me recently and discussed a PT spot, I do not remember talking to her but played it as I did. She asked if it was still available or if any more days had opened up. I confirmed that it was still available but that no other days had come available either. She then asked if my openings will change once the state ratio changes. (Ratio would go from 6 to 7 kids for home daycares)

LOL got to love the news reporting half of the story, it is not automatic across the border. I had to explain to her that I have to apply for the new ratio and then wait for the approval. That I had applied (which I wish I had not told her) but it takes a couple of weeks to a month to find out. She says so your not advertising that spot then? Nope, nor am I trying to fill it before I have it.

I then sent her to my website to complete my contact us form. I just looked the form over, she has an infant. The additional child is for ages 30 months and up, not for infants.

              • My license has to be renewed end of Sept. Sent my licensing consultant a message since its going on August and he was supposed to come two times between February and Sept. He was out of the office on Thurs when I sent the message he responded this morning that he needed to do two unannounced visits between now and next month.. then he showed up 3 hours later (he had definitely forgotten about me before my message lol) in the middle of nap time and woke all of the kids up and they would not go back to sleep. Excited to have one of the visits out of the way, not happy that my kiddos only got a little over an hour of sleep. Also interrupted my lunch "break" (lol the 20 mins overlap I have where ALL of the children are actually napping and I get to scarf down some food and then run to the restroom before prepping afternoon snack ). What a start to the week. Happy Monday!

I take off the Wednesday before Labor Day so got a little wait for my next off-time....I had lots of days built in particularly for my sons as they grew up; but now that they are grown, I'm not changing my off-days.

Annalee I am off all next week, both mine and dh bday fall during that week. Then I am closed the following Monday and Tuesday, Monday is school orientation and Tuesday is the first day. Then a full week and then labor day weekend. Which will also be my 8th year of being licensed. (Waiting on my inspector to come any day)

Oh and my may is like this too. Mother's day, DD bday, our anniversary, ds bday and then memorial day weekend, then school is out.

                • Well, ladies, I'm going to 'tell' on myself here. As y'all know from my posts, I'm a server and giver but since January, I've began a self-care regimen with bi-weekly massage/chiropractor, good shoes, reading bible more, saying no more, etc. Well, I've always used my money to survive and take care of my family, but this past weekend on our annual family trip to Georgia, a few cousins I'm not around often went for the first time......so guess what? I had a pedicure for the first time in GEORGIA.....and guess what, now I'm gonna get a manicure, then I might get a facial, who knows but Life has been good to me this year and I'm gonna ENJOY the times while I can.

I've done my due and I still do my due but I have to admit, I enjoy 'me time' now without shaming myself. Does that make sense?

                • Good Morning, I found a person who would make me some words out of wood (1/4 inch birch) with the first letter uppercase around 5 inches and the lower case letters for the rest of the word around 2-3 inches. Reckon what a good price would be. Rather than charge by the word, she is working on a bundle-price as I have asked for12 words. Anyone know what a fair price would be so when she texts today before she actually cuts the words out so I can refuse or move forward. I looked on ETSY which I feel would be on the high-end...but still would like some input! Thanks everyone!

Just got a text and I'm so thankful.....most businesses around here especially home-based businesses like making deals with other small-town businesses so this worked out great for me!
