It's another snow day here. School is cancelled and the snow is worse than yesterday. I am running at 40-50% capacity as several families called out.

A majority of my DCP's work from home but several still manage to bring their children here....for a number of reasons so whatever....but today takes the cake.
I have a little DCK who's having a birthday today. Parents work at home. Child is usually first one here last one picked up.

Today at drop off (BOTH parents come in for drop off and pick up every single day )
DCD says "Hey! Does Miss BC know what day it is?"
I say "Yes, it's DCK's birthday today!"
DCD says "How many cupcakes are you going to eat today DCK?"

Now I am confused because they haven't brought any cupcakes and I never said anything about making any.
Clearly they think or expect me to make DCK cupcakes. (um, no.)

So I gloss over DCD's comment and say "So are we picking up early so you can spend some time celebrating DCK's birthday today?"

Their answer; no.

*sigh* these parents now days, I tell ya!

I am irked that they expect you to celebrate DCK’s birthday but they themselves have no intention of doing anything special 😐

Hopefully dcb is young enough that dad's comment about the cupcakes sailed right over his head. If you don't normally provide them, I would have asked, "Oh! Did you bring some?" even if it was obvious he didn't. If the kid was old enough to understand, I might also have said, "Well now that he's expecting a cupcake, you'll have to go out and get enough for him and the rest of the kids."

Well looks like I will be down to just two DC kids tomorrow (both a year and a half old and the easiest kids). One dck I sent home today for possible stomach bug, one dck I sent home on Monday for a fever still hasn't returned, and one dck will be on vacation with parents tomorrow. Hopefully no more illnesses pop up and we can have an easy peasy day. My two oldest kids will be home from school because their break starts tomorrow and I have my own two year old as well.

I want to put my decorations away. I am tired of cleaning over and around them. Also, of having to protect them from destruction.

• The class gift swap is tomorrow.
• School is closed for the next two and a half weeks (12 days, total).
• All will have siblings and parents at home.
• Next week I need to be finishing up my end of year recordkeeping, training, W-2'S, statement of accounts and taxes.

Is this Saturday really too soon? (Just the daycare, not my family spaces.)

Tomorrow is the last day for my county schools too. I'm closed Dec. 23-Jan 4....counting the days down!!!

I ended up pulling out the wooden trains, little tykes Christmas sets and an awesome wooden nativity scene I forgot was given to me a couple years ago. We are changing up the scene, instead. I am really liking it so far, today, so are the kids.

Good deal, CH! I only have 8 today but sometimes I think it's easier when EVERYONE is here....we begin our Christmas gatherings tonight; a breakfast tomorrow and our immediate family tomorrow evening....no gifts this year; a year to decompress, just food-fun-games! Happy Holidays!

I am only closed on the 26+27. School is out for two weeks, DD will be home. Dh work closes the second week.

Dcg1, dcg5 + dcb9 will be here first week but not second week.

Can someone please call dcm of Dcg3 and tell her the best gift ever would be to do the same as the other families and keep dcg3 home the second week?

Totally understand your position. Sometimes you absolutely NEED the money and other times you absolutely NEED the vacation. But either way, only you can decide,
However, if you do decide to close, do NOT feel badly. The mental exhaustion this job brings sometimes is heavy.

Alrighty, I've reached 10 lbs loss and hanging steady so I'm happy about that since the holiday extra eating has been happening....but I'm going to also try something new.....like using the premier protein shakes from Walmart as creamer in my coffee....I hear that taste good and cuts down on calories??? Trying the caramel this morning.......We shall see! Other people have noticed my weight change over the past few weeks BUT I didn't notice it till Saturday in my new pajamas for my mom's side of fam Christmas Breakfast....so at least I feel I'm moving forward! Ready for 2023.....much different feeling than I had going into 2022.

Try Super Creamer if you can find it in your local grocery store. It's literally the best alternative to sugar free/low fat/healthy and still tastes like actual creamer. The others aren't as good at being sugar free no matter what buzz words they use. Other than learning to drink your coffee black, the best alternative I've found is Super Creamer.

Annalee I had that parent with DCB4.99 this past summer. I was so glad he went to Kindergarten. Dad finally stopped asking how the kid was all day when I started saying “Perhaps he’s getting to the age where he’s outgrown my program and you need to find new care?” Then he didn’t want to know how he was anymore 😂

I could not sleep last night and I am super grumpy. I have my two and two Dcg. Everything Dcg3 whines about make me want to snap.

She didn't eat it a bit of breakfast. During snack she didn't want to eat what was served and (her new line to get what she wants) says my tummy wants (name of food)... She ate her fruit at lunch, then whined the whole lunch because her tummy wanted different food. One would think she'd be starving after not eating the other two meals.

She whined when she wanted to do craft before snack and couldn't, when I told her to go potty before we went outside, when we came in she whined because her pull up was wet and wanted to be changed right then while we were still getting winter gear off, she whined when it was nap time because she couldn't play with slime and the day is not over.

DCG will call my dh, dad from time to time, because ds is calling him dad. Then one day she says my dad left and I tell her but he still loves you. (Which I knew he left and that is why dcm went back to work, but other than that she never mentions him) She repeated that for a few days until one day she starts saying dcm bf is my step dad. I assumed that dcm solutions to Dcg asking about her dad was to say bf was step dad.

Until yesterday when My single dcm texted that she was not able to pick up today and dcg stepdad would be picking up.

I’ve hit the irritable phase of being checked out…

• DD3 is driving me insane with this new whiny voice. It’s been constant today. If I have to hear “Mom/Mommy” in said whiny voice one more time 🫠
• I’ve disinfected the bathroom doorknob and light switch 3x today because DCB3 LIES about washing his hands. He literally turns on the water but doesn’t wash them. WTF?? 😡
• DCG3 can’t keep her finger out of her nose 🥴
• DCB5 clogged the toilet 😵💫
• It’s PJ week and DCM sent her DCK in onesie pajamas. They’re 3 and 2. The 3YO can’t manage it alone in the bathroom and I have to completely undress the 2YO for diaper changes 🫤
• DCD tried to change his kid’s schedule without a 24 hour notice this morning 🙄
• DCB5 gets up and walks over to me every time he has a question… DCB3 has started doing the same 😑
• Every time a kid leaves, DCG3 says, “My mommy is picking me up soon.” Yes, we know. 🤫
• Every time these kids clean up for they’re done doing something I hear, “Ms. GM, I’m done!” “Ms. GM I cleaned up!” 😵💫

Just a few hours now....4:30, or sooner, most days end at 4:00-4:15 for me but today will surely be 4:30 but nothing is going to STEAL my joy today.....will follow up on that part this afternoon.

Well guess what!!! my child that is going to school next year that drives me NUTS daily brought me in a Christmas bag with a two-pack sponge (very nice) and some lip balm but at the bottom of the bag was decorative soap wrapped in plastic wrap specifically for 'HEADACHE RELIEF'.....TRUE STORY!!!! Have a great rest of the day everyone! LOL BAHAHAHA!!!!!

My last day has started!

Today should be easy. We’re going to start our morning off with a movie, open gifts then eat lunch and nap. I don’t plan on waking anyone up () so as they wake up, we’ll eat some treats and call it a party. I’m shutting down early due to the winter storm expected to hit this afternoon.
