I like mostly college sports....baseball, softball, basketball and particularly football. College plays from the heart (with money on the side..lol) unlike the NFL where the money comes in. And I like food, in general.....very few things I do not like, but particularly like any vegetable and anything chocolate.

Did y'all get the food program update where all homes will be reimbursed at the Tier 1 level? I have always been on Tier 1 but this will be a nice adjustment for family child care across the board!

        Good morning everyone!

        Today we celebrate

National Blueberry Pie Day ~ on April 28th each year ushers in blueberry pie-making season. Blueberry harvest begins in April and lasts until September giving us a long season full of blueberry enjoyment.

We’ve been enjoying blueberries in pies since early American settlers arrived. In 1872, the first documented recipe for blueberry pie appeared in the Appledore Cook Book. Blueberries are abundant in Maine, so it’s no surprise that blueberry pie is the state’s official dessert!

National Super Hero Day ~ National Superhero Day honors superheroes, both real and fictional.

Batman, Superman, Captain America, Wonder Woman, Iron Man, Hulk, and Spiderman are just some of the superheroes whose names we recognize. Even though they are fictional, these superheroes provide role models for our children. They serve and protect while fighting evil.

Our real-life superheroes may not have superpowers or wear capes. However, just like fictional superheroes, children also look up to them as role models. They serve and protect their communities. These real-life superheroes also dedicate their lives to helping others, saving lives, or being a mentor. Military personnel, police officers, firefighters, and teachers are just a few of the heroes who protect us on a daily basis.

Denim Day ~ Each year in April, Denim Day raises awareness about all forms of sexual violence.

Throughout the country and world, the day sets a standard of support for survivors and provides a foundation for solidarity through a simple message; there is no reason for sexual assault, not even the type of clothes a person wears.

The statistics are staggering but the personal stories more haunting. According to RAINN statistics, 1 in every 6 American women has been a victim of an attempted or completed rape in her lifetime. There is no reason for them to be victims – not their age, their clothes, or their status. A woman’s job, clothing, and socio-economic status are not an invitation to assault.

The day calls for everyone to wear denim to show support for victims and survivors of sexual harassment, abuse, assault, and rape. College campuses, clinics, businesses, and organizations host educational events and fundraisers to increase awareness and change misconceptions.

I am not a fan of blueberry pie. I don't care for any fruit cooked. My state has a Blueberry Days festival each year where thousands of gallons of blueberries are harvested and celebrated.

I grew up watching Super Hero cartoons on Saturday mornings. I have 4 brothers so... My favorite is probably Batman although most girls like Wonder Woman, she just never seemed as cool as Spider Man or Super Man. I love that real life every day super hero's are celebrated today too! They are really the people that put themselves art risk for others and should be celebrated every day!!

Denim Day is something I have never heard of before but sounds like something worth bringing awareness too. My heart goes out to anyone that has been a victim of sexual abuse or assault.

COVID restrictions here are slowly easing so that is a positive! We are suppose to have a warm, sunny Spring day today with temps nearing 60-65F so yay!
I hope everyone has a wonderful and safe day!

My daughter used to absolutely love the 1980's cartoon version of Spiderman when she was younger. I got such a kick out of the fact that she was more interested in that particular version over new ones or even all the Disney princesses and Nickelodeon cartoons.

          Hello,
I never used to like blueberries, but now I eat them every day in my smoothie, and they're not bad at all

            Good Morning everyone!

A bit windy and cloudy today but temps are starting to warm up!
Suppose to be near 60F but doesn't appear to be really sunny but I'll take anything over freezing at this point.

            Today we celebrate:

National Shrimp Scampi Day ~ On this day, we honor the delicious dish of shrimp cooked with butter, garlic, lemon juice, and white wine.
Scampi is a culinary term for small lobster known as Nephrops (also known as langoustine or Dublin Bay Prawns) and which is completely unrelated to this day.

National Zipper Day ~ National Zipper Day commemorates April 29, 1913, when the patent for the modern zipper was issued. The day celebrates something that we often do not think about and may automatically take for granted.

The first attempt at creating the zipper came from the inventor of the sewing machine. In 1851, Elias Howe received a patent for the “Automatic, Continuous Clothing Closure.” However, Howe never marketed his invention and missed the recognition he may have received.

National Poem in Your Pocket Day ~ During National Poetry Month in April, National Poem in Your Pocket Day shares the way poetry brings joy by simply carrying one in your pocket. When you share the poem, you’ll bring joy to others.

There are so many different styles of poetry. This day, however, places no restrictions on the rhyme, rhythm, syllables or length. The goal is to share a poem. You may scribble it on a receipt or recite one while waiting in line. Add a poem to the back of an envelope on outgoing mail. Don’t be surprised if you discover a poem tucked into a book. You might even find one jotted down on the side of your coffee cop on the tag of your teabag.

Poems come in so many different sizes, they can be squeezed onto a square of the calendar or jotted on the side of pencil. No matter where you find them, we’re sure they’ll bring surprise and joy.

Have a wonderful day and stay safe!!

I would go with pasta but I am not sure as I've honestly never had Shrimp Scampi in my life!.... I like shrimp if it's the little popcorn/breaded kind and comes with Tatar sauce (hate cocktail sauce) but I do not like broiled, grilled or any of those giant shrimp. They just look too icky to eat... haha!!

I still vote for pasta... I crave it lately!

You should try spaghetti and shrimps, the shrimps are chopped up with chopped garlic and cooked in olive oil, so you really don't see the "icky" (I like fresh parsley on mine)

Dh and my sons love shrimp cooked in dales sauce on the grill.....I'm not a fan of slimy shrimp, though. I can eat the breaded but wouldn't go out of my way to get it. LOL

Fresh fried catfish is my fave but I like other fish as well. My sons get into all the seafood stuff but I will stick to catfish.

                        Happy Friday all!!

I've always had some kind of pet; I prefer dogs but love cats as well. As a child we had everything from parakeets, fish, hamsters, a duck, bunnies, and turtles to cats, dogs, and a monkey. Right now we have 2 dogs and they're getting on in age, already dreading the day.......

Pretzels?? Only 2 ways to eat those things IMO. Chocolate covered and dipped in peanut butter.

I love watching birds. We have feeders all winter, only trouble is they attract rodents.

Not a fan of any sports. Used to love Devil Dogs mmmm, with a big tall glass of cold milk, along with all those other junkie foods(no wonder I struggle with weight), and prefer a good juicy cheese bacon burger over prime rib.

Have a great day everyone! Cold, gray and drizzly here today. Green-up Day tomorrow and weather is going to put a damper on things.

As soon as my kids get on the bus I have to go fix an issue with my milling machine (it’s got about 1/100th of an inch play in the table- huge for a mill) After that it’s time to fire up the grinder and make a ton of sparks and dust. My first knife show in a year and a half is in 5 weeks. I still have 8 knives & 2 squirrel axes to get done. I really enjoy even the crappy parts of bladesmithing, but there is just something about the run up to shows that is so much fun.
