"What a long year this week has been!"

...and that about sums it up prefectly!

Four police cars pulled over in front of my house; maybe they thought I would need re-enforcements this morning. LOL

  • HAPPY WEDNESDAY! Trying to be motivational for myself this rainy day! Been a little tough to get going each day lately

Yes, it's been an odd start to the new year for sure.... my motivation is barely hanging on! I feel good about a couple things, have eliminated some road blocks/stressors in my life so always working towards the goal! Just feel like I'm moving at a snails pace some day! Hoping your Wednesday is awesome and easy! Also hoping you see some sunshine soon too!

Yup! What a Monday! :-( Schools called a snow day here. One of my toughest kids is out as a result (Yay!) but I agreed to take one of my former dc kids who is now in first grade and is an older sibling of one of the kids I currently have in my care. I knew it wasn't going to be the wonderful snow day I had initially envisioned but oh, boy!....What a good reminder as to why I should tell parents I don't have an opening during snow days or school vacation weeks! lol

  • Well, we started as five on the gym workout; I AM ALONE NOW! Two dropped out; one left with her dh best friend/best man at their wedding after over 10 years of marriage; and one went back to nursing and she has small children so she works out at home now..... so this old woman has stuck with it....feeling good this morning about that; something I CAN control and there is not much in this old world I feel control of anymore so I'm sticking with it, for now anyways

Proud of you for sticking with it!

  • We’re expecting a lot of snow over the few days. I’ll give you one guess as to what provider follows the school schedule during severe weather?

Annalee we’re expecting to get several inches here and lots of wind. The timing of it is the problem from the sounds of it.

  • I have a 1-year-old that will run a temp of 99 to 100 during diaper changes, before and after naps but always temps great during play and upon arrival.

This morning she tempt 99 to 101 at arrival, she also came in with her hat on and Mom had a blanket around her. Which normally she does not come in with a hat or a blanket on.

This is on forehead thermometer that according to the manufacturer this model does not need any degrees added or subtracted that it is accurate as is.

Well dcm said, I guess you go to Grandma's house today and left.

It sounds as though dcm made the decision so I wouldn't feel guilty about it at all. With all the crud going around these days, I'd rather be safe than sorry and have her go to Grandma's house for the day rather than risk the rest of the kids getting sick if she has something contagious.

She has normal temp but soft green bm. Could this mean that she had meds?

Not sure green poop would necessarily point to medication, although maybe? She may have eaten something with green food dye in it. (If you've never given a kid Trix yogurt, you should try it. It gives poop a lovely aqua color. ;-)) As long as everything else is normal, I don't think I'd worry about it.

  • Praise the Good! After the fiasco of the child with the two backpacks this morning, I dreaded my scheduled visit with a state-person; BUT it went well, actually extra-well if that's a word. Feeling motivated for the moment! Of course this roller-coaster of emotions within the child care realm can change moment by moment

e.j. Yep actual temp. With the “feels like” it’s -32F
Last year we hit -47F actual temp
You get used to it plus there’s really no such thing as too cold, just bad clothing. lol!
We dress in layers and keep active
In the summers we get temps in high 90ies so between winter and summer the temp difference is 125-150 degrees

I don't know...-21, -47? Those temps are way too cold as far as I'm concerned. lol I wouldn't be able to move with all the layers I'd need to keep me warm! I agree with Girlmomma - I couldn't live where you live. I'm in awe of those of you who do.

    • Oh let the week be over. It is cold here, not as cold as where BC is but we did hit the negatives (with temp and real temp) this week. Today was the first day it was warm enough to go out. In about 10 minutes, I have to bundle everyone up and head to the bus stop to get the kids off the bus.

It is 8° here, and the gas company is here finishing installing the generator. I told him I'd offer him some coffee but I didn't own a coffee pot.

Our weather is balmy compared to BC's but it's just way too cold! It was near 30 degrees here early this morning (not unusual here) but temperatures have been falling quickly since then. It's now 15 with a -5 feel like temperature and it's expected to get increasingly colder as the day goes on. Overnight, we're expecting -13 degrees with a feel like of -45. I'm hoping we don't lose power and that the town's water main outside our home doesn't break as it has several times during the past year. I feel for those people who have to be out in this cold. By Sunday, highs should be around 40 and next week, they're predicting Thursday's high to be close to 50. Crazy weather!!

He is having server issues. He texted me to let me know so I figured I'd come on line and post a message to those wondering but it wouldn't let me in,
Its still seems a bit wonky here but it could just be me. Hopefully, all is back to normal soon!

          • This morning my sis calls and asked if I was keeping DD home because of the roads. I was just waking up and had not checked my messages yet.

The school decided to do main roads only because of the slippery (melting ice and snow while raining) roads.

People on FB posted that they did not get a notice. I got 3 emails, and 3 text messages, (they use a system called one call now that you are required upon enrollment to sign up for, it sends out emails and texts, whatever you opt-in for but you are required to choose at least one.) and 2 email notices from the local tv station all saying that it would be main roads only. Then the bus driver called to tell me too.

Hmm I wonder why no one on FB received a notice?

It’s almost obnoxious how many notices DH and I get from One-Call at 5 AM 😂 This is no lie…

              DH gets
              1) a text
              2) an email
              3) a phone call

              Then I will get
              1) a text
              2) an email
              3) a phone call
              4) a notification from the principal on the Remind app
              5) an email about the notification from the principal on the Remind app
              6) a notification from one teacher on the Dojo app
              7) if school is closed, I’ll get a notification from DD’s basketball coach on the Remind app about school being closed and a game being canceled
              8) an email about the notification on the Remind app from DD’s coach.

How do they not know?!? 😂😅🤣😵‍💫🫠

GirlMomma Your list makes me laugh. It makes me think of providers complaining when dcp forgets that they are closed and all the ways they let the families know they would be closed.

I used to complain about that all the time because I had one DCM that was constantly asking me to “remind” her what days I was closed… again. 🙄 She’s no longer here and (so far) I don’t have to remind my parents 5/6x anymore. They actually read the notices 😂
