Four kids today; all called out, some sick; some just spent the day at home; one text at 8:00 and said "I've overslept but I can still come, right?"; uhm NO...have a good day! guess they saw my post from last week and didn't come. LOL
Generator is fully installed and passed inspection. Today we had strong winds and all I keep thinking is just in the nick of time. Luckily the power did not go out. But the wind made it awfully cold to be outside.
During installation my husband had to dig a trench from the propane tank through the sidewalk and behind the fence. He also removed the paneling of the fence so that the installers could get to the backyard easily.
I'll put it in the newsletter if you walk around, use the other sidewalk and don't go across by the cones. You could completely see the generator when you came up the sidewalk.
The work was done when I was closed on Fridays, then everything had to be left open for the inspector that took another week.
The generator was delivered in December and work started on it in January. This week only one parent asked what kind of work I was having done, but he didn't ask until after the fence went back up and the hole was filled.
If your luck is anything like mine, now that you have a generator, your power will never go out again and you won't ever need the generator. Murphy's Law ways your power will only go out when you don't have a generator to use as a backup. lol
Stay safe, Annalee. Hopefully the storms aren't too strong. It's scary enough but when you have other people's kids to care for, it's even more stressful.
The weather has definitely been strange this year, BC. The weekend before last, we had a couple of abnormally cold days. It hit -13 with wind chills of -30 here which broke records for cold in this area. A week later, highs were in the 50's and today it's 59 with a feel like temp of 61 which is breaking records again for the heat.
Had tornado warnings this evening......we are ok, but two miles down the road and some areas out west of us had roofs, trees, debris.....several without power still.....it was on us fast.....just sitting here and my phone emergency alarm sounded.....went into action as we have a basement and texted my family to take cover....... I received so many calls/text as our area was on the news to take cover......now may have some flooding but the tornadoes are gone.
Doing some re-arranging here. Had a few terms and then a few new kids start.
I've learned that some issues will never be non-issues in childcare but I've also learned that the same issues coming from different families makes a big difference to my sanity. lol!
First day back after a long weekend. Of course ALL my kiddos are back as none of my DC parents can manage more than a weekend with their kids so the kiddos are "WILD" as can be today... Wish a few of them would have been sick enough to stay home.
The worst one's parent always makes a point if telling me their child isn't 100% but none of the symptoms impact the child's ability to participate as normal.
Yeah....sure....they just impact MY day as I've had to stop and wipe boogers off the child's face 3X's while typing this.
Snow storm happened this week. Day two of no school. SA family let me know last night that they wouldn't be here. DCM/DCG1 let me know this morning that she would be here 30 minutes late and DCM/dcg3 said she couldn't get out of the driveway so she was staying home. Dh got up and ready for work it then came back to bed because he wasn't feeling well.
Since my current infant is doing so well, I decided to offer an infant spot in the fall with restrictions. I advertised for it yesterday and I was getting messages at 1 AM!
1 AM is kind of crazy but I can believe you'd get a ton of messages. If infant spots are as hard to come by where you are, as they are here, parents will jump at the chance to secure a spot. I hope you get some good prospects.
e.j. The 1 AM person is on the never call list π
Alwaysgreener the infant had to be over a certain age, safe sleep trained and DCP should baby led wean. This is also part-time only - at a full time rate.
I put my ds in sport camp, it is four weekends and we are on the third weekend.
There was something about one of the coaches that keep bothering me. I told my dh that I couldn't figure out how I knew him.
This week, I heard his name and lightbulb, he is an old client from before ds was born. They left when dcm went on maternity leave but came.back after my maternity leave and only
βββ stayed for a few months when I had to term/cps. They have a DD a few months older than ds. Sure enough, their DD was playing too.
Dcb that I termed after a very stress full month is also there. DCM says hi to me and friendly, I had blamed the term on our boys not getting along but there was way more to it than that. Dcb seems to remember ds and says hi to him. Ds thinks it is great that he knows a bit his age and wants to invite him over. Lol, I just can't.
Do I smell a Monday coming....???? Been a busy weekend.....just now really getting to sit down a bit...... got a large cup of coffee with hersheys chocolate/caramel creamer topped with whipped foam.... gotta get my down time sometime.......
