  • People Refusing to Get the Covid Vaccines

What do you think about people not getting themselves or their kids a covid vaccine? A teacher here refuses to get a vaccine or her kids one and they don't even have their regular vaccines either and are going to school. Our governor was very blunt on the news this week and said that she blames the unvaccinated people for not getting a vaccine and not the ones that are already vaccinated and Alabama's vaccine rates are very low compared to other parts of the united states. Even some people are now requiring that you get a vaccine or have a weekly covid test

I think kids need their regular immunizations; but I think the covid vaccine should be a personal choice like the flu shot! Just my opinion!

Covid is never going away, we have to learn to live with it. The only virus we have ever been able to successfully eradicate with a vaccine is smallpox. I took the covid vaccine out of fear. I look at it like the flu shot, take it or leave it.

Our household vaccinates as normal. My husband and daughters get the flu vaccine every year. I don’t get the flu vaccine because I was tired of getting the flu when I would get it. We are also choosing to not get the COVID vaccine.

Also, yes I’m fully aware that scientific research shows you don’t get the flu from the flu shot. But in my research, I get the flu from the flu shot! Every. Single. Time.

I take Dr Schultz’s products for over 20 years. Here is his take on flu shots:

I don't think they should be required. I got the vaccine only because, as a business owner, I was worried about losing income if I got the virus. I do have a small feeling of regret about it now.

My husband won't be getting it and my kids won't be getting it, either.

It's a personal choice and should be left to each person to decide if it's right for them.

I agree. I did get it but that was my choice, I wouldn't want for it to be forced to get it or talked into and regret it afterwards. Having a choice to get vaccinated is an American freedom and I would hate to see that taken away.

Not directed at OP, personally. Just the constant fear mongering of social media, the media and politicians.

In other news, water is wet. Look a chicken!!

I am so freaking tired of the politics. Are these not the same flipping people who tell me I can't ask if a kid whose diaper I change and wounds I tend has HIV? Who say I must enroll kids with or without immunizations?

I will tell them the same thing they tell me. It is none of your business. Take care of yourself and it will all work out just fine.

        Dang NIMBY's.

Licensing allows providers to decide about the immunizations with children....personally, I only enroll vaccinated children. Got a NEW cdc memo just now but haven't read it

Ours is trying to push the masks, again. Laughable. They never wore them the first round. I just hit delete. It is about funding for next year, not reality.

What I'd like to know is: since when is an unvaccinated person a threat to the vaccinated? (just another angle)
If the Covid vaccine is as effective as they claim it to be, why worry about the unvaccinated?...I say it should be a personal choice

I think it (and all vaccines etc) are a personal choice
I am adamantly against requiring anyone do anything to their body in order to keep a job they already have.

This type of thinking is too close to socialism for my comfort …and too far away from the freedoms and liberties this countries is based upon.

We've been headed to socialism for a lonnngggg time, however it got slowed down a little but when the administrations changed this year, I knew it would start moving much faster now..... It's so subtle people don't get it till it's upon them.....

I agree. I got the vaccine because I was tired of having to wear a mask all the time and having to worry about quarantining every time I passed someone who sneezed or coughed. I don’t think that we should be forced to get the COVID vaccine anymore than we should the flu vaccine. It’s a personal choice. This is all about government control over us and I’m afraid this is only the beginning.

I work at a small center, and my boss made it staff choice to wear the mask. Two shutdowns total! One was student, one was a student and a teacher. We had 3 cases total. At this point half the teachers have chosen to get vaccinated.

The fear with them being vaccinated is that they won't disinfect as needed because of a false sense of security. Even with the vaccine you can contract and infect others. It does not keep you from getting it or spreading it. It "may" minimize symptoms. Maybe. It is experimental.

There are two reasons why I’m holding off:

              1) I tested positive for COVID. I should be naturally immune to the virus. When/if the virus mutates, like it has, I fully expect to contract its new variant. Does this sound familiar to anyone? If I’m understanding correctly, vaccinated people can still contract the new variant… because there isn’t a vaccine for the new variant.

              2) It’s experimental. My husbands side of the family has been vaccinated. My MIL contracted COVID two days after getting her first dose. She also has had a period for the last 12 weeks. My DH’s aunt was hospitalized for breathing problems hours after her second dose. My DH’s uncle was extremely ill after his second dose and was out of work for a few days. My DH’s grandparents had no side effects.

When COVID came thru my DC, we all thought it was another 24 hour bug. It wasn’t until DD needed a negative COVID test to return to school that we found out. About that time, I lost my taste and smell, days after the first symptoms. Personally, I’ll take the virus again over the vaccine.

DISCLAIMER: Besides a few extra lbs, we are generally healthy people with no pre-existing conditions.

COVID almost killed my husband and im a COVID long hauler….. so based on my personal experience, I feel sorry for people who don’t get vaccinated because I wouldn’t wish my experience and what we’ve gone through on anyone.

My assistants have gotten the vaccine. All my DCF have gotten it too. I think being close enough to see it’s effects helped make their choice to get vaccinated.

For the record, the treatment for COVID that my husband received when admitted to the hospital is still not FDA approved. His oxygen was in the 70s and he was literally suffocating in front of me and the downward spiral happened in a matter of 24 hours.

COVID was debilitating, horrible, and terrifying. I wouldn’t wish it on anyone.

I don’t get mad ar those that choose to vaccinate and I hope they don’t live to regret it.

I only got the vaccine to avoid quarantining; but there are people I know who have gotten covid recently that were vaccinated.....businesses that had stopped the mask mandate started it back up today!!! So I'm not sure what I think about it all NOW!
