I mention in the tour that I do baby led weaning but of course after months later its a surprise to them when I say that’s the method I use. Maybe I’m doing too much work for myself.

Oh, wow. That sounds like a nightmare.

Ours just refers us to the USDA nutritional guidelines for meals and snack reimbursements. If it meets eligibility for that, it meets state guidelines. Everything has to be cut in pieces according until age 4 and we must be seated within arms reach while they eat, though. That is pretty miserable, too. I literally have to pull back their plates, out of reach, to stand and serve anyone seconds of anything. It is absurd.

Licensing rules say we must feed infants according to parents wishes/schedule.
We can’t dictate when solids are started nor what method the parent chooses to use.

I stopped accepting infants. When I had infants, some parents started them on table food at 5 months and others at 11 months. The parents supplied the baby food, like breastmilk/formula, unless the child was baby led weaned at home first and was fully capable of eating what I typically served for the toddlers.

I didn’t give the infants any solids until the parent introduced them. It’s not my job to do the parents job, I only provide a service.

I tell them about baby led weaning during the tour. However I do not feed them anything until the parent has fed the child that item and I don't start any foods until the parents have started food at home.

I agree 💯 percent with what Cat Herder said above.

Oh, I also send home fresh vegetables with my families often and they all know which markets I use. I post the sources weekly with my menus. Most of them have begun shopping at them, too. We have some very talented bakers, farmers and growers here. My honey, spice, sauce and jam guy creates magic in jars. We all look forward to his booth each and every year. We could have chicken and wheat bread for lunch everyday and never get bored because of his flavor combinations and sauces. The kids tear it up. lol!!

No. Only whole, clean foods. I shop at local farmers markets and bakeries. I get my meats and milk direct from local farmers storefronts. I get my fish and shellfish from the fisherman's market at the marina. I also grow a good bit of our seasonal vegetables myself. I can't raise livestock since I will name them and become responsible for their vet bills until they die of natural causes. I know me.

It sounds hard, but the reality is that my food cost is a fraction of what I spent on processed foods and these are much more nutritious for us. It also supports my local farmers and economy. I cook in bulk and freeze for easy food prep later. I could can, but I have never been comfortable with that. I have not made it to that level of self sufficient, yet. lol!! I can't remember the last time I walked into a chain grocery store.

Your rules are your rules. However I don't think you can exactly tell parents what and how to feed their infant.

The infants don't need table food until 12 months so I don't generally start until I have to. Most kids don't get enough breast milk/formula at home for proper brain development. I meet that daily need here. I expect the parents to start each and every vegetable, fruit, cereal, and meat, first, at home. As they update their infant feeding form with a new food (required by the state) I add them to their diet, here. I will not serve nuggets, pouches or fruit/veggie flavored puffs of anything here.
