A couple of weeks ago, I had my first caller asking if I have a camera system installed. As a parent I do understand that clients would feel more secure if I did install cameras, so I checked some youtube videos and I'm not getting it. Granted I've only seen a few, but every one of them had the camera pointed in a way that only a small area could be seen, not the entire room, so what's the point of having a camera? ...unless of course those were mandate cameras
Any of you have cameras or thought of installing them?

I have them over the entryway, playground and group play area. I use them for my own observation to inform my curriculum and practices. I don't always see everything I thought I did and somethings look completely different than reality. It is illegal to have them near the changing table or anywhere the children are undressed. I don't give the parents access routinely but if something did happen or the police requested it I'd be more than happy to comply. Licensing must present me with a warrant or they can drive on... I have nothing to hide, but I don't like their over-all goal and think they should have to work as hard for their money as I do.

I have a home daycare & recently purchased a Swann video surveillance system. I have a wireless camera in the group play area, one at the front door & several on the outside of my property. While my parents don’t have access to these cameras, when needed (say a biter’s mother seems to think her biter is being provoked 🙄) I will pull up the video for them.

I have multiple cameras inside and out (16 total)
The parents do not have access and never will
Law enforcement and licensing can view recorded footage if necessary but other than that, I’m the only person that can see stuff

We have the Ring system inside and out. It's for us only, I have never had a parent ask about cameras. I can go back and look at footage anytime if needed.

Alabama DHR has recommended that we have cameras installes in our center so that if an incident happens it won't be he said she said and questions being asked unless through DHR or a parent. I think if we were to do it, that the owners would be the only ones to view the footage because of privacy reasons.

I have two cameras outside. They are hardwired Nest cameras. Love them.
But other than a baby monitor (which I'm basically required to have to leave a baby sleep in a crib), no, I won't install cameras inside. I can see why providers would like them to back up any claim, I really do. But, I think that any action on camera can be twisted around and likely result in actions they don't deserve. I truly don't know how center employees can function where parents watch cameras all the time. My mom voice comes out a few times a day and some people don't even want you to do or say anything that isn't Mary Poppins all day long. No thx. Real world here.
