  • New Trends in Your Area?

What new ECE trends seem to be emerging in your area?

The two new things I have noticed.

    1. Licensing is pushing the use of LENA devices on infants to provide evidence of "Quality".

    2. Mandatory classes are now available in Arabic. (English, Spanish, Arabic, only)

** I wanted to clarify that the third language that would be the most helpful to have available locally would be Lao. Next would be Punjabi.

Neither are available to us in parents resources, either.

I have seen your number 2 ......multiple language within resources for daycare providers and clients forms, etc.

One thing going on here is CCRR/Licensing mandating...every little thing being written on paper to be checked. things like playground supervision
is much more intrusive now with formal documentation.

Infant/toddler 'how to' documentation on paper strategically now.

I keep reminding myself that I always said if the QRIS ASSESSMENT went away I could deal with ANYTHING

Wow; I guess they will use all this federal funding to purchase that stuff....from another standpoint, though, these kids as I've stated before come to me with autism tendencies and speech/vocabulary development is a large concern as the HOME environment is failing these kids and daycares are expected to FIX it....we are good at what we do, but we are NOT miracle workers and are getting BLAMED for so much that is out of our control.

I agree. This should be something Pediatricians, Social Workers or Therapists prescribe for home use. It should not be turfed onto us.

This part has a super creepy vibe to it, too. "LENA SP and LENA Pro are the only two versions of LENA that allow the option to retain audio."

Are these like checklists or running note assessments? How time consuming are they? Who checks them?

I know that all of this stuff starts slow, but then becomes mandatory fast. Mine has been adding a lot of language about us uploading data on the daily. I am not ok with that. I don't work for them. It is getting out of hand.

** Oh, they also announced on radio, tv, social media and newspapers that all parents getting tuition "scholarships" will have "no tuition" until October 2022. "Apply Now" My fear is this will be a new way of attempting to force subsidy on those of us who won't take it?

It can be simple or extensive as long as they feel you meet your objective. Everything will be digital by spring of next year where we upload this stuff. For playground I sent pics to ccrr and have had one zoom and will have a follow up with my plan after evaluating my pics with them last week. It is within my time-frame but it is pushed to be done....THey offer you a template which I used so they can't say I didn't do it right. When I meet back with them I will let you know how it goes.

The idea they say is for daycare providers/educators to be INTENTIONAL and writing it out they feel will make that happen.??

We just ended August 31 with the "NO PAY" for essential worker and certificate....it was April 2020 thru August 2021....and also they are looking into the federal funds to providers being a vaccine mandate, but not clarity on that yet?

Writing it all out just means you are spending less time supervising kids. It is backwards thinking if you ask me. There is no way I would spend one minute outside of business hours on this. They rarely even work their 40, I'll be !@#$%^& if I do one minute more than my 50 for their paychecks.

I understand....it makes me tense doing all this cause I am OCD/TYPE A so I want it all to perfection and can't let it go till I do so! Everything has went back to virtual here so???? Got a training 9-11 in the morning as well....the in-person lasted only 3 weeks. It makes me mad that they start with me cause they KNOW how I am and then use me to encourage the others to comply....but I don't even get paid for that now as I didn't follow their ladder of expectations this past year....

I am the same as you personality wise and they burnt me out the exact same way. LOL! I strive for perfection and love education and a challenge. I am just setting my own goal these days since theirs has become about how to get more federal money into the inner city instead of supporting me doing what is best for the kids currently in front of me.

Kids here seem to need more physical care. Parents here are all about activities, milestones and socialization but have completely skipped good food, skin care, good hygiene and healthy rest times. The state can keep pushing their diversity and engagement; I am pushing my already diverse and engaged group in the joy of whole vegetables, sleep schedules, basic wound care and the use of soap & warm water.

Basics needs first or everything else will fail.

Aug 27 of this year was my last day in daycare. A secondary reason for me leaving the industry was all of the trends being forced on HOME daycares, including spending time on mandatory reporting to boost THEIR programs.

            In our area:
The health department changing language "recommended" rather than "required" which is causing us to end up with children showing up with covid after a rapid negative (which in 3 cases now has led to a positive when the test is sent out).
Materials are only avaible in Spanish and English and need to be avaible in onidia too.
