  • Food Program Products

I make a majority of my meals homemade. However on some occasions I might do a frozen pizza or something.

I just started the food program last month and I like it, but I do have a question. What are the products that have the CN label? I haven't seen it on anything. Luckily my granola and other foods meet their low sugar guidelines, but I'd like to know what products people buy that are approved.

I have no idea. I have never been able to find the cn label on any product.

My food program recently sent information about CN products that includes this:

"In most cases, a Product Specification Sheet from the manufacturer is required. Manufacturers are moving away from providing CN logo crediting information on their product packaging. If you have a CN logo showing crediting information, please check the date (to find it, see the example of the CN logo where it reads: USDA 08/00). Manufacturers change their formulations so anything older than 1 year may be outdated."

Apparently you have to write or call the manufacturer, using the UPC code, to get the product specification sheet.
I'd rather just make from scratch.

When I was a member of the food program, I remember finding the CN labels on things like frozen chicken nuggets and fish sticks. I noticed that after some time had passed it was harder to find the CN label on anything. I'm no longer on the FP so I haven't looked for the CN label in quite some time but what SignMeUp posted makes a lot of sense given how the labels on certain products just seemed to disappear after awhile.

Here is information for a mobile app as well as a web based tool for guidance on what is/isn't credible for foods. It talks about the CN label and what it looks like but as others have said, I've seen the label less and less these last few years.

Anyways, here is some really good resources for healthy food options and credibility

I agree. That seems like a pain. I'll stick to just cooking from scratch.
