  • New Covid Policy- Tuition Still Required

Im sure this has been asked before, but I will be giving out an updated parent policies for the beginning of the new year and want to add some new things. Does anyone have a policy that states if you have to close because of a DCK having covid, you still expect tuition while closed? Im trying to figure out how to word it. I thankfully havent had to close yet because of covid. My family hasnt been exposed or had it, and neither has my daycare kids or their parents (that i know of anyway). But, i dont want to have to miss out on 14 days of income every couple of months if the kids do get it. I could never afford to miss out on half a months worth of income.

I would say if your child is sick with COVID or any other illness that they must be symptom and fever free for 24-48 hours or however long and if they bring a doctor's excuse you could discount their tuition payment. We do that with our parents and they love it

Simple....Fees due 52 weeks per year.....fee is based on spot not attendance!

My contract states the above then list professional days, holidays, vacation days with emergency days counted in as well!

I would just allow yourself a set number of sick or personal paid days.
If you’re fully vaccinated and have no symptoms you just mask up and can stay open.

If you have symptoms and are vaccinated your quarantine time is less than 14 days

Any other situations and I think it’s simply a personal option as to what you do in regards to charging or not. I don’t think contact tracing is really all that accurate considering vaccinated people can spread too so that area of discussion might upset some parents but again that’s based on your specific situation and your families.

As far as DCK’s go they need to stay out 10-14 days depending but I still charge as I’m still open and it’s part of my payment policy anyway (52 weeks/payment)

My son had covid recently and being vaccinated I was able to work; I told my parents and only had five kids make the choice to come but it was my two-day Thanksgiving week anyway. I did mask up but being vaccinated has it's perks. I haven't had daycare a child with covid yet; so haven't crossed that bridge.

I was told that if a DCK ends up with covid and they were at the daycare, we have to close our daycare and quarentine/close for 10 days.
Technically if a DKC gets covid, all other daycare kids have been exposed so shouldnt they all stay home and quarentine?

momboss, if a dck test positive from my facility the kids would have to quarantine 10 days but I would not since I'm vaccinated.....I would just have to wear a mask and watch for symptoms so technically I would be open with NO kids.....haven't had that happen yet but ??

I had to revamp things a bit with covid rules as well, since I never used to charge for my own illnesses or personal days where I closed. I used to only charge for holidays and Christmas break. All other time off: I averaged into their rates.

My "pandemic clause" now includes up to 4 weeks annually, paid at half rate for covid closures. If the closure is due to your child being diagnosed with a communicable disease, then full rate is due as normal illness policy applies. Any termination notices given during this timeframe will forfeit their enrollment fee.

Technically, since I am vaccinated, I don't HAVE to close, but all exposed children still need to quarantine. Under those rules, I could still charge full rate if I wanted to. But I'm in a position where it doesn't really bother me financially to cut that break and potentially avoid some hard feelings.
I may change that in the future though.

If a kid has COVID they have to stay out, I don't have to close. Whether they attend or not, I am still here. "Tuition is not based on attendance."
