Sort of funny - I terminated a family last summer (2020). It was a bad one. I’m sure I posted about them because it was bad.

I was at my dd swim class and I hear a mom just going on and on about how horrible it is that teachers get two weeks off for holiday (winter break). A few moms chime in about how horrible it is and how hard it is to schedule things so they’re kids won’t be annoying. I keep reading my book and don’t even look up but totally judging since it was Tuesday and break had just started Monday. Anyway, it was THAT dcm. Who happens to be a teacher!!!!

    my goodness. People never change.

I am not sure how funny this is. Lol
I let everyone know I was closing early today, I sent it on the calendar for the year early last month.

Then myself and my kids got sick over Christmas and due to the nature of my appointment I had to reschedule. When I sent out the monthly newsletter last week (with a current list of days), I also attached the calendar with the update, that I was not closing early today.

Well the family that didn't read the newsletter and came when I was closed over Christmas sent Grandma today to get Dcg. Lol, I didn't say anything and let her go with Grandma. Although I wasn't sure what or if to say anything.

The other families must of read the update because they didn't pick up.

Exactly why I don't ask for anything anymore...LOL I had rice krispie treats on the sign up a few years ago and a parent brought in two boxes of rice krispies cereal???? not sure if she thought we would eat them plain or what she thought rice krispies treats were?? Crazy! LOL

LOL honestly, that’s exactly what I would’ve done had I forgotten to pick up treats 😂

The kids loved baking last year. It was a fun science experiment!

We are having an all out fun day on Thursday...(my last day before my vacation). We plan on eating a fun lunch and then having some holiday goodies. Each family was asked to bring a treat to share. I don't care if it's store bought or home made... but I guess I forgot to specify that it needed to be 'ready-to-eat' as one of my DCM's came in this morning with a gift (we did a name exchange) and as she was walking out, says "Oh and here are the treats we were suppose to bring" and hands me a roll of refrigerated cookie dough. Guess we are baking today...

Do you ever do the dumbest thing and laugh about it later?

I’ve been wanting (needing) new couch throw pillows. Before our family comes into town for Christmas, I ordered four new pillows and four new pillow covers last week. My intention was to put two pillows in each corner of the couches. I have two couches. Imagine how surprised I was to realize I only ordered FOUR instead of EIGHT when they arrived today. 🤦🏻‍♀️

My DH is not going to be happy when he finds out I rush ordered four more of them to get here before Christmas

Back in early summer, I had enrolled a newly turned 2 year old. DCM was expecting in late Oct 2021. They only used 2-3 days of care a week but paid the weekly fee. I was VERY clear about space for new baby being available ONLY if they remained enrolled/paid during maternity leave. Mom kept mentioning they couldn't afford to pay while she wasn't working. I was VERY clear about not affording to "hold" a space for free.
A month prior to her due date, around mid to late September they pulled DCG because mom was laid off of work. I reiterated my policies AGAIN.
Guess who texted me last Sunday telling me dates and times that would be needed when DCM returns to work after the holidays?!?
I didn't respond until this morning. It took me that long to figure out a professional way to say "Bahahahahahah. NO."

I love karma! It's so nice to hear about bad decisions not working out.... and parents veiled attempts to be vague about what they really want. lol!!

Remember the dcm that chose to go to the REAL PRESCHOOL since her state pay ended and she would have to pay anyway? She stopped by a few weeks ago but I didn't let her in per all parents stay outside for sign in/out. She has text so much lately with things like "dcb misses you" and "y'all were so good ot mykids" and "dcb2 wants to come see yall"...I just don't respond

Family 4: What days are you closed this month?
Me: The 23rd is my last open day.

Family 3 (AGAIN): Do I pay you for next week or are you open?
Me: Yes, I am open. I am closed after the 23rd.

Good grief, I wish I had $1 every time I have been asked for some sort of clarification about my off. So far, all but two of my families have asked me about it… one of those two families is out for maternity leave and the second family is my favorite
