DCM came in today and asked to change her contract drop-off time because she no longer has to go in early and she would rather spend extra 30 minutes with dcg.

I had a DCP tell me last night (after trying to figure out if the older sibling will be attending the first week of break when I’m open) “You are the best, I am so glad you get to take time off. You rarely do.”
It meant alot to me since I really do keep my time off to an absolute minimum so I don’t inconvenience my families.

That's lovely. The same has happened to me. A DCP and DCGma have expressed happiness for me that I'm taking a longer break this year before the new year. I have never closed this early before. It feels nice when families acknowledge the time and commitment you put in, many times going above and beyond.

Monday was the last day I had a full house
I have one family having a baby tomorrow, another going on vacation and another family taking precautions and keeping DCK home since the SA sibling is sick (yes, they’re my favorite family!)
Next week, I will only have 4 all week! After Friday, I am not allowing ANY changes to anyone’s schedule.

TOMORROW IS MY LAST FRIDAY OF THE YEAR!!!!
Boy have I earned it these last two weeks!I closed the last week of the year this year because the kids drove me crazy last year being all out of sorts with the holidays… but this year, it’s the parents!

I am planning my training for the year and am so happy to see some new titles out this year.I only need 10, but registered for 23, so far.
I am kind of a training geek, though. It does crack me up how they like to rename old techniques, change some terminology and call it "New".
Fingers crossed I actually learn something new and useful.

I am working a half day today. My appointment went quicker than I anticipated so I had almost an hour and a half without kids!
I got a big pot of chili simmering in the crockpot for dinner, my upstairs is cleaned and since I’m working a half day, the kids will be eating/napping for a lot of that time.

I have been spoiled this week and I’ve been getting a lot time in the mornings to myself. It’s helping me decide how I want to realign my business hours. I’m thinking my future clients will all have an 8:00 drop off time.

That is the thing about contract hours. I have had my days start as late as 9 and as early as 7. Starting at 9 was perfect for that time of my life because it happened while I was pregnant and sleeping in at that time was fabulous. Now it is 7 and it works because I have to get DD up for school.

Alwaysgreener yes, I think I would like that so much better!

I switched to an 8:00 opening time when my own kids started school. I wanted them to have the house to themselves as they got ready for the day and I didn't want the stress of trying to care for other kids while I was trying to get my own kids ready and onto the school bus. Since I haven't had any trouble filling spots while opening at that hour, I've stuck with it. I tend to be a night owl so opening at 8:00 works way better than 6:00 or 7:00.

1. "Infant #1" graduated from the crib, became "Toddler #1", picked out a personal blanket with froggies and sleeps happily on a mat.6 square foot of play space reclaimed. Whoop!
2. Infant formally known as "Infant #2", now known as "Infant #1" is self feeding and holding the bottle. Boom.2 hours of personal time reclaimed. Yes!
3. Pre-schoolers #1 and #2 have colors, numbers, shapes, most letters, dressing, table manners, clean-up, teeth brushing, handwashing and nose blowing down pat.
4. Pre-K dude has chilled out with the booger, butt, booty and fart jokes.Four more months and he graduates off to big kid school like his brother before him. Party planned/supplies prepped and ready.
Leaves behind I#1.
5. Soon to be newborn, formally known as Infant #4, now known as Infant #3, is scheduled to begin the following Monday. No idea on the sex, yet. It's a surprise. Joining siblings T #1 and P #1.
6. Infant formally known as "Infant #3 ", now known as "Infant #2", can roll independently for comfort and sleeps on the same nap schedule as the group. You can hear the harps, bluebirds singing and waterfall sounds in my head, right?

The Monday after school ends, May 30th.No he/she has not been born, yet. Tuition will start that day whether baby does, or not. It is not uncommon for parents to pay 5-6 months prior to attendance, with me holding their slot.

DH and I have been on the 'only cash' thing with the exception of our mortgage which we are doubling up on each month.....he just sold his 'extra' truck and we can now gravel our LONG driveway as we have needed it for some time and all this rain and snow are really causing issues. Find the good and praise it!!!!! Trying to stay on target....still saving for one of my bathrooms that needs a new floor but we will get there!

Yeah, Cash is king.
We opted for crushed asphalt instead of gravel. It seemed to pack in better and didn't wash away.

We have always done business with cash only. We've always figured if we want something bad enough, we can save for it. If we can't save for it, we didn't want it that bad. Every boat, snowmobile, lawn tractor etc, have all been paid in full at time of purchase. My parents put my family in debt trying to keep up with the Jone's when I was little. I know it caused a lot of stress in my parent's marriage. I always vowed to avoid that.
We have a super long driveway too (almost a full mile) and it is ALOT of work trying to maintain it sometimes. Especially those years where it snows or rains alot. We did what Alwaysgreener did and opted for crushed asphalt. We did it in sections as we could afford it and finally completed the last section this last summer. The gravel we'd been getting seemed to just run off the driveway every time it rained hard but the crushed asphalt set in place and was almost as hard as concrete in some spots.

My hot and cold DCM finally put in her two week notice.
Today, I got a call from a very nice family that I am excited to meet with next week. This is the first phone call out of 10 or so that I’ve even considered setting up a meeting with. LOL cross your fingers for me!
It still leaves a spot open from the family that left last month but I’m not in any rush to fill it, if I fill it at all.

I only have three today. All three of them are my fully potty trained kiddos. I am thinking I should get a lottery ticket 😂

Here all potty trained kids have to go at the same time.

I am down two today as well and feel excited about it, which makes me feel a bit bad for being happy a kid is out due to not feeling well. lol! But we all know ANY change in the group attendance makes a big impact on the mood of the day over all! Have fun today with such a small group! Only another provider can understand how nice it is to have a diaper free day!! ENJOY!!
-
Alwaysgreener if they’re still new to PT I do make them all go at the same time. These kiddos are all ages 3-4 so I can trust them - sort of 😂
Blackcat31 thank you! I do sometimes feel bad too, but it is all about the mood in group care! Thankfully, my other kiddos are related and none of them are sick - they just had a family matter. Enjoy your lighter day today, too!

BC, I know exactly what you're saying. I'm feeling the same way today. I sent one kid home when he spiked a fever and was obviously not feeling well. Since there's the chance it could be Covid, his sibling went home, too. They're my two toughest kids in terms of behavior so while I feel sorry one is sick, I am enjoying less stress now that they've gone home. Crossing my fingers that it's not Covid but will cross that bridge if/when we get to it.
