  • Closing Early

Do any of you close early the day before you’re on vacation? I’m considering closing at 3:30 or 4.

I will have four kids total next week. Three out of four of those families will be home with SA kids. The fourth family I know wouldn’t mind having a reason to get off of work early, they got here really early the Wednesday before Thanksgiving.

I don't because I don't trust clients to honor it. If I want off early, I close for the day.

I did try, they just always let me down and made me late to whatever event I was attempting to get to on time.

I should say that Atlanta traffic is not something that you can count on. Especially during gunshot, apartment fire and carjacking season.

Cat Herder hahaha I drove through Atlanta many times, I don’t care for the traffic at all!

I would close early if planned in advance however not with this short of notice.

I have only ever had one dcm not show up on time.

I don't charge parents when I'm closed for vacation so it would cost me additional money to close early the day before. If, for some reason, I couldn't avoid having to close early (like I had to be on time to catch a flight to somewhere and I couldn't schedule that flight for a time that fit within my vacation week), I would either close for the day or close early enough to provide wiggle room in case a parent showed up late for pick up.

I don't change if I close for the day but I do charge for a full day if i close early.
I try to close at nap time or the last 30 minutes.
I also have a sub/dh that will cover for me for the last ten - fifteen minutes.

The fourth family told me today DCK will only be here 1/2 day. So with all my other families being home, I don’t think it’ll be an issue to close early with this short of notice. Just not sure if anyone else has done it before or not.

If not, be the first and start a new trend! ;-) Seriously, if you can do it, go for it. Call it now before a parent tells you how happy they are that you're open all day, making you feel like it's no longer an option.

      I did it!

I was informed that I will only have two kiddos that day so I am closing at 4:00.

It is so funny GirlMomma when you said "close early" I thought one o'clock, but you just meant an hour.
