I started having a itchy throat around pick-up today, now it's a full blown sore throat with a fever. So I want to go get tested tommorow so I know for sure. Not sure how to word it since I'm not sure it's COVID but I want to take the day tomorrow to find out, and should I tell parents to test their kids and themselves just to rule it out. Drawing a blank...

Telling Parents I'm Getting Tested For Covid

I hope you feel better soon!
I would just take the day off because you’re not feeling well. After you get tested for strep, COVID, the flu, etc. and you feel comfortable divulging your medical info to parents, I would tell them what it is and when you plan to re-open.
I don’t see any reason they’d need to have their child/themselves tested for anything unless they are showing symptoms.

A rapid strep test seems more a priority. I'd wait until after you see your doctor.
It is also pollen season, here.Last edited by Cat Herder; 03-16-2022, 07:50 AM.

I have rapid at home tests here. I would just use one of those or if I didn't have any I'd go by a couple to have handy. I think we're past the "everything is covid stage and we're all doomed."
I would test. I personally wouldn't tell my parents unless it was positive. None of them would care anymore anyways.

I'd just be upfront and let parents know what you told us: "I'm not feeling well and have symptoms consistent with Covid. I plan to be closed tomorrow in order to get tested. As soon as I have the results, I'll let you know so you'll know whether or not to have your kids tested. Sorry for the inconvenience."
Oops! Just noticed it looks as though you posted sometime last night. Hope you feel better soon and that the test comes back negative.

This is my first time closing for illness so I wasn't sure how much detail I should give. Doctor suggested I test for all of those. I ended up telling my dcp's I was getting tested for COVID to be sure but didn't mention that they should test.

In the future thats what I'll do, just let them know I'm sick and taking the day off. It's the same with all my families except one.
